Re: 98 Elite S Big Bore problems
The variable rate set-up has plenty of oil for an 80cc BBK. Also not true. The sa50 oil pump opened all the way can deliver oil at a 50:1 ratio at best. 32:1 or at the very least 40:1 seems to be the norm on 72cc and bigger. I'm out of here, too. But before signing off, I'd like to show the last pl...

Re: My First Dio :) ?? 1998 Elite SR?
I would like to replace the whole carb but the honda ones are expensive. Anyone tryed one of those el cheapos off ebay? You don't want to be swapping your carb at this point. Almost always, the Honda carburetor can be saved. Dismantle the whole thing and soak everything (but NOT the neoprene gasket...

Re: 98 Elite S Big Bore problems
You just don't get it, sure the 80cc bbk should and does plop right on but it's half-assed and not recommended on an af16. And the oil pump adjusting nut is used to align the mark and index mark for a 50cc not 80cc Looks to me like you've run out of excuses when you're reduced to saying it's "...

Re: 98 Elite S Big Bore problems
If the boost ports don't match, then the Base gasket isn't compressed from both sides. It becomes a Kazoo with possible/probable Massive Air Leakage! Really Bad Idea. Don't do this thing. I don't know what you're looking at, but on all the Dios I've seen, this isn't a problem if you're using the pr...

Re: 98 Elite S Big Bore problems
Wow JJ, you are spewing out lots of misinformation. Care to post a pic of this adjuster on the oil pump? I've never heard of or seen this adjustable oil pump. Or better yet, just post up a video of you doing 60mph on a stock geared dio block. See the page from the Dio FSM below. Item (4) is the adj...

Re: 98 Elite S Big Bore problems
The take-home message is that if you're buying a Taiwanese BBK for your AF16, you must plan on splitting the cases to match up the boost ports.. My new Taiwanese BBK was a simple bolt-on. No dis-assembly of the crankcase required. NONE! Just took off the old jug and put on the new one. Done in 3 or...

Re: 98 Elite S Big Bore problems
Quit giving such bad advice. Sorry you're having such a hard time digesting all of this. The AF18E & the AF16E are identical except the US AF16E is just slightly detuned (older SA50 carb, airbox, and muffler) and made in Mexico rather than Japan. Engine parts are totally interchangeable. An unr...

Re: Stock Oil Pump Delivery Ratio
Greetings: If you're gonna be having to add an ounce or so of oil per gallon anyway, why not lose the drag of the pump and gain complete control by mixing at 32:1 - or whatever ratio you think best? Because math makes JJ's head hurt :eyeroll: Yeah, I'd way rather be drag-racing Ninjas (with my Dio)...

Re: 50mm bore, 35mph, please help
ok so here is the scoop 50mm bore poli 9:1 gears 8.5 rollers 28mm V8 exhaust 24mm carb (45,130jets) ct intake and i still only go 35-40mph Something fishy here. A Dio with 80cc BBK (50mm bore) and stock carburetor should do 60mph with only a few drivetrain mods. If it's running clean, I suspect tha...

Re: 98 Elite S Big Bore problems
50mm bore kit is not bolt on I've used this 80cc BBK, and it was a simple bolt-on, except for the jet tuning afterward (use a 90 jet), and altering the cooling shroud. Note that you'll need a Dio or Elite SA50 high-rate oil pump, not the fixed-rate SA50P oil pump. If you've got the regular SA50 Eli...

Re: Stock Oil Pump Delivery Ratio
Perhaps the SK pump exudes a bit more per stroke than the Elite versions? I believe it's the same pump, but the Dio's feed rate is adjustable and it's connected to the throttle cable. The restricted Elites (SA50P) have a fixed rate of oil feed, NOT connected to the throttle cable. Yes, you have to ...

Re: Need more speed
Im new to this forum , I recently purchased a 89 elite 50 to save on gas. I mainly use it for going 22 miles to work and 22 miles home. It gets me there and back and is alot of fun but I would like to squeeze a little more speed out of it , but dont want to hurt the reliability. Id be happy with 40...

Re: 1988 SB50 sputters high speed
I have sprayed through all the passage ways numerous times with carb cleaner. It still doesn't seem to change a thing. I still believe it's a fuel issue. If I could find another carb to try that would be great. Has anyone else had this problem? Would anyone like to take on this project? That remind...

Re: Tire size ?
I've never even seen one, but the Spree has clearance issued with 3.00s. A safer bet might be 2.75s. You can run bigger tires if you remove the center-stand. A hand-grinder with a coarse blade can cut out enough on the right side of the center-stand to clear the tire, but the center-stand is now we...

Re: wich engine will fit in my nb50 1984
now i found the derbi boulevard piston size 40 mm x 39.3 mm its the same size in my engine so i think if i use my tools and table drill and put the right bolt i could put the derbi bored kit in my nb50m. Even if you could hammer a 40mm Derbi piston into a 40mm Honda cylinder, I think you'd still be...
