Re: Gyro X fuel pump/diaphram to intake hose hookup?

Thanks, This 1985 was brought over by a Japanese dude, a Gyro "X"! This model was not exported, it's the workhorse of the Gyro line ie bigger etc. All stock carb parts. I'm thinking if I bypass the gas pump with a direct gravity fed line it should be fine. When it was running before I just...

Re: Gyro X fuel pump/diaphram to intake hose hookup?

Thanks for the reply and pic's Elite! My diaphram has gas in, gas out to carb, hose to intake (not seen) and the other with red arrow (not hooked up) so 4 nipples. The oil hose goes to carb not intake (that correct? ), then the two others RED circle nipples on carb. I hooked up gas direct to carb an...

Thanks Guy, I believe guy is right in that you need a gasket (for the belt cover) so as to have the proper spacing for the starter motor to spin freely.

Thanks Guy, my manual shows no gasket and doesn't even mention one.
That's the 1st I've heard, thanks again...will cut one out tonight.
Tried 2 different benix/pinion to same result.

OK, tried new to me pinion AND starter motor from Greg, SAME darn thing, it engages properly but will not turn over more that just a little?!

When the side cover is off all operates just fine...

Given up and am getting a kick start conversion.

Yup, sounds like the battery is not fully charged so it's not fully engaging the bendix. Get a new Battery and/or charge it up and do a load test.
If it still whines try lossening the spark plug (less compression) and try that, let us know.

Guy,
I don't see why the amount of oil to gas ratio should go up with a larger bore?
Enlighten me...y'all don't really need too...

Thanks, it will easily turn over the engine but only with the spark plug a little loose, like not quite hand tight, otherwise when tight it won't turn over a full revolution. Doesn't seem to be a difference with wires hooked up directly to battery or normaly. I've had the top end apart, all is clean...
