Re: Elite 80 4 stroke issues
:2thumbs: thanks Greetings: Yes this could require valve clearance adjustment. Clearances are set to spec cold. Partly this is beause a hot valve - exhaust side especially - will lengthen a tiny bit as it heats up. If clearance is insufficient, the valves leak a little which decreases compression, h...

Elite 80 4 stroke issues
92 elite 80 4 stroke. Starts up fine, runs fine, hits 40-45 mph. After I drive 35 mph for about 3 miles the power does seem to go down a little, still can hit top speed, just loose some acceleration. I figured this is fairly normal, cold cool engines run better than hotter ones I think. The problem ...

Re: Elite 80 Problems
I have an elite 80 in my spree chasis. I went through my carb and when I put it all back together I had the same issue where I could get the engine started but would die with out throttle and would die when giving it throttle. I tried turning up the idle screw to compensate. I found that turning the...

Rear tire nut removal
Trying to get the carb off of me elite 80 motor but the goofy jap design looks like you need to remove the rear tire to get at the carb nuts. I go to try and get the rear tire nut off and I can't get it to budge. I applied heat, liquid penetrant and I tried my 90lb rated impact at 120lbs and still c...

Re: tranny plug won't seal
cleaned up the area and took a look and didn't see any obvious cracks. It didn't leak until I took the plug out the first time.

tranny plug won't seal
 pulled the tranny plug off of my ch80 to drain the fluid. Put the bolt in and filled the fluid. Drip, drip. Ordered and installed a new factory aluminum washer and I installed it, same thing drip, drip. I've cranked down on the bolt pretty good, anymore and I'm afraid I'll strip it out. Any o...

elite 80 4 stroke help
I'm 220lbs and have this engine in my spree chasis. I put new Honda 10g rollers in it. I removed the grease cover on the drive clutch and am running the drive clutch dry. The belt measured right at nominal width according to the manual. I can only hit 35mph on flat road. From what i've read I should...

Re: How much can a bad oil seal effect compression
if your talking about crankshaft seals on a 2 stroke, you won't see a difference in compression. Compression only checks piston rings, cylinder condition and head gasket. To properly check if an oil seal is bad you need to perform a leak down test. This test is very cumbersome on a 2 stroke. There ...

Re: 80cc 4 stroke spree
Anyone thinking of doing this: As you can see a lot of the side panel plastic has to be cut. I also had to remove the black padding on the inside of the side panels. Eventually I want to make an abs "bulge" and put it over the exhaust and carb/airbox area so the plastic looks more like the...

Re: 80cc 4 stroke spree
I have body work to do yet but I believe I have it in a ridable reliable state. Today I took it out for a few miles. It's the first time I've seen the speedo hit 35mph (and there was still throttle left) :bowrofl: . Its no Dio but anything is better than the 50cc turd that the spree comes with. The ...

Re: Abs bodywork
The plastic was broke on my scoot right beside the left turn signal (seems super common). I used a cut up plastic bottle (600ml) and two paperclips to hold the peice in place then fiberglassed over this shape. The plastic bottle had a perfect curve at the top that worked great. More sturdy than duc...

Re: Abs bodywork
Thanks for the ideas, I work for a plastic injection molding company so abs shouldn't be a problem.
