Re: Do You Ride/Own A Motorcycle???
In addition to my scooters, I have a '71 CB500 Four that I'm restoring and a '74 Kawasaki Z1A.

Re: regular or premium?
It gets pretty hot in the summer here. When the temperatures go above 105, I run 89 octane in my XC180. The bike runs poorly over half-throttle if I dont. If the temp tops 110, I go to 91 octane. My CH80 Elite doesn't seem to mind the temps as much, but I'll change up to 89 octane when the temps top...

Re: what's an SEP50p?
I'd nab it. Much better price than Elites go for here (good year-round riding weather). The "cheap" ones go for $600 but they average around $1K. My Spree was a find for $200, but it seems that it was less of a find after discovering how ill it really was.

Nothing special really, just gold-painted CH80 Elite wheels. It is a sweet bike, though.Wheelman-111 wrote: Even the wheels are different.

Re: Spree Transmission Tuning
I'd love to know the following: 1) What the belt drive ratio becomes after the pulley mod? Easy enough to measure. take the belt case cover off. Paint an index mark on both pulleys (key being pulley, not clutch bell). Rotate the belt drive by hand and count how many turns the front pulley makes unti...

Re: Gurus: are these parts interchangeable?
Seconded. My '85 rotor doesn't fit on my '87 shortblock's crank.
Tempted to tear both motors down to directly compare the cranks.

Re: Spree Transmission Tuning
So, I've been giving a bit of thought to Spree gearing. Word on the forum indicates that the later Sprees are faster than the early ones. My question is: Are the late Sprees as quick or quicker to speed than the early ones? I know Honda-san did commit some changes to the later engines (i.e. domed pi...

Listen to MC Frontalot's "Crime Spree" while drawing. It'll be that much funnier, I promise.

Re: Cranks but shuts off
Trying to remember what the inside of my CH80's carb looks like. Pretty sure the jet you're referring to is #24 in the following diagram: http://www.bikebandit.com/assets/schematics/Honda/H01810027.gif Pretty sure it has to be clean all the way through. Also, when you pull that jet, be sure to blast...

Re: Cranks but shuts off
Not sure what the vacumn tap is, I really dont think the fuel is flowing properly. Is fuel supposed to come from tank with the fuel line disconnected? Thought I read that it would not flow unless it is running. That is correct. There are two lines coming from the bottom of your fuel tank. The large...

Re: Spree Transmission Tuning
I did go though his thread and found a wealth of ideas in his tuning. Free/cheap power is always good. I need to pick up a flex-drive for my Dremel so I can do some of the intake and exhaust porting. I think I will ultimately do a BBK. Just want to make sure I've explored additional tuning steps too...

Re: Cranks but shuts off
Seconded. The CH80s seem to get rather fussy about starting if they've sat for an extended period. My '87 gets like that if I don't run it at least once every two weeks. The stock CH80 air filter is paper, so replace it on leiu of oiling it. An alternative would be to cut the paper out of the filter...

Re: Spree Transmission Tuning
Brad^3, I'm actually tempted to build up two motors now so I can compare notes on then. Between the block I got from you, the '85 head and the new domed piston, I have the ingredients for a strong baseline motor. A second motor would allow me to alter one and directly compare results.

Spree Transmission Tuning
As I've been collecting bits and bobs to return my Spree to an operable state, I've been reading up on tuning options. Has anyone installed and run tazland's gears on a Spree yet? I'd like to try and determine if this is something that would be more beneficial than a pulley mod, or if it could be co...
