Re: fastest 50cc bike.

Just a wee bit faster than the 1966 record, set by a Kriedler. It was supercharged! Details on that one here:

Re: Tire talk

My '85 Spree project came with a 2.75-10 on the rear and it was rubbing the fender/airbox, most noticably on the muffler side of things. I suspect the fender/airbox get tossed if you plan to run a tire wider than stock. Looks like it would fit up front, but it may rub if you come down on the front e...

Re: do you [Non-Scooter Projects]

1) Top end rebuild on my '87 Audi Coupe GT. 2) Reassemble and tune my '71 CB500F. 3) Full teardown and rebuild on my V9A1 (yeah, scooter). 4) Resurrect a VX500 that a buddy just acquired. 5) Refresh an '80 Suzuki GS750E for another buddy. It does stay nice here through the winter, so I'm probably go...

Re: New to NQ50s

So the story goes: Colleague goes home to Mexico. We tell him to bring back tamales. He brought back swine flu. I'd blame the language barrier but I know he comprehends English much better than he speaks it. Avoid this ailment, amigos. It's a helluva way to ruin a weekend. Felt well enough today to ...

Re: 1987 Honda Elite 50 (se50) restore

I'm interested in how the CH80 turns out. Mine's due for an overhaul. Topped 11K on the clock and it's feeling a bit tired. Probably time for a hone/new rings/valve job. Cleaning out the oil screen couldn't hurt either. :thumbwink:

Re: Spree Variator idea ?(driven and drive face)

I've heard the '82 or '83 Express had a very small / thin variator that might fit. I've never heard of anyone running this down to try though. The AF04E motors do have a relatively small variator, but the electric start probably won't be viable. the bendix on an AF04E drives a gear pressed onto the...

Re: i know this is the wrong area but...

i've read repeatedly that honda's 4-strokers (though less powerfull than their 2-stroke counterparts) are some of the most stupidly reliable, low maintenance machines ever. :ndance: Agreed. My '87 CH80 is pretty reliable. Gas it up and change the oil every thousand miles. Admittedly, I've spoiled i...
