Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

thanks sanjuro. it is what I eventually thought. I might also add that several months ago I wrote off my 160hp honda superblackbird and nearly killed myself. I think the event got me thinking on a more pragmatic line, so I moved forward, this time with a 3.9hp honda today nvs50. It is terribly gutle...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Well I may as well just come out and say it - 'I have bought a 4 stroke scooter'. If anyone is still there, the situation unfolded as follows: I could not, for the life of me, get the dio going properly. I then thought, my final effort will be to buy a brand new identical Keihin carb on ebay, and th...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Thanks for the post noizeguy. Some time back I checked the movement of the bystarter and noted that it was moving. However, I am not convinced that it moved that much. I just cleaned the whole carb thoroughly, put in a carb reconditioning kit, and then put it back together. No improvement. There is ...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Thanks for response fastplastic, but I am not sure what you mean. Can you dumb it down a bit for me?

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Low on money again, and still pondering other solutions to my problem before anymore hot up bits. Does anyone know if there is any way I can temporarily plug the autolube hole, try running on premix, and then removing it again if it doesn't work? I am thinking of something like a hard rubber plug ab...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Anyone had experience with this pipe?

Price is right, but only if it is a goer.

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Thanks again guys for the ideas. Well, I burned out the pipe using a gas torch and compressor (not the usual way I admit, but it made a * of a lot of smoke, so it was burning something). Unfortunately, no change to performance. Here is the problem in short: This dio will go fine flat out, but does n...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Nice to hear from you wheelman. Is 11pm in Adelaide and I was heading off to bed but was hoping I might catch you. Just out of interest, do you put locktight or similar on the flywheel and variator crank threads? In the manual it said something about actually oiling them, but I have never done that ...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Okay, for anyone who is still interested, after much personal angst I finally got the courage to pull out the main seals and replace them on my AF18e dio donk. Did not end up too much trouble or time. I decided not to split the cases as this would have been a bit much for me at the moment, and i tho...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Thanks again. I must admit I thought the pinkish fluid looked like fuel in the oil pump hole, but you must be right - pink two stroke oil. It has been a long time since I used a compression tester. Should the compression normally take about 15 rotations of the engine to get the compression level? I ...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Well, its been 4 months since it all became too much for me. Down on confidence, down on money, down on time. But I've got a few bucks (ie, $100) now so I thought time to be brave again. So I started up the Dio today. Just to recap, despite a new piston and bore, carb rebuild, new air filter element...

Re: Trustworthy traders......updated 1/31/10

Just add my bit from the other side of the Pacific. Tazland001 (marc) has been excellent with big bore and dio gears kit. Not only amazing price but great after sales service... from a zillion miles away! Marc you kick * (sorry: kick '*'). :2thumbs: Hey Marc, as an aside, Dio problems have been leak...

I found that af18 manual for noizeguy after months of searching. it was like 15 pages deep on a google search.

thanks for encouragement. it might be a while before I start... but I might just get brave.

Re: sym/bolwell jolie question

thanks for the info. sounds like it might be a goer ig I can get one for a decent price. I would only get one if it would take a dio big bore. sounds like it will!

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio

Thanks wheelman. I reckon you're right. I had this sense when I backed off the throttle going down hill like it was struggling to get pressure to draw more fuel in. The possibility occurred to me early on, but I got thinking seriously while I was looking through the recent posts of the guy who is do...
