Re: Problem putting on new Honda Spree belt
Finally got it on and what an improvement while driving! I had my wife pull on two strings I looped inside the belt about 1" apart which gave me plenty of space to put the front plate on the splines. The belt was stretched foward towards the front wheel. For others, this is a one man job but no...

Problem putting on new Honda Spree belt
Any tricks or steps that you have used to put on a new Spree belt? I have put on a Gates and reinstalled the original belt after I was disappointed with the Gates belt so I guess I've installed 2 belts with no problem. However, the new Honda belt which I just received is difficult. I've expanded the...

Re: I saw the light!!!
Mousewheels, I just used a simple Sony W-80 and turned on the close up button and turned off the flash. Sat at my desk with a desk lamp on and moved the camera around very slowly until I was looking down the brass tube thru the LCD and snapped the pic. I had read this message and photo on a previous...

I saw the light!!!
Last week my little spree started up and would die quickly which led me to the carb for cleaning. I soaked the carb for three days in carb spray and still had a clogged idle jet. Looking down the brass tube, I noticed the hole was too small for a #13 guitar string. I purchased a #8 for 89cents, inse...

Re: Put on AX24 belt, Spree stalls
I put the original belt back on and it ran smoothly. Trafficjamz was spot on with his reply. The original belt miked out at .473 and was still in good shape. I very lightly sanded the sides of the belt with 100 grit sandpaper as there was a slight sheen. Runs better now than before!!! Also, an easy ...

Re: Put on AX24 belt, Spree stalls
Thanks traffic. Yup, I'll get the proper belt. Several had said the ax24 is a good replacement, but it didn't work well for me. I appreciate the quick response. duck

Put on AX24 belt, Spree stalls
I decided to replace the original 86 Spree belt yesyerday as I "smelt" some rubber the other day. The little bike only has 1300 miles on it and ran well. Took it off and replaced with an AX24. Seated it properly and closed it up. Spree is now very difficult to start and dies in 5 to 10 sec...

What do you use for simple homemade tools?
I'm about to change the belt on my 86 Spree. Looking thru the archives, some folks have come up with ingenious ways to get things done rather than buy tools. I'm curious and facinated by the ingenuity of many of you. What is the least expensive way to remove the front and rear pulleys instead of usi...

Re: Fuel filter
Apollo, O'Reilly's has a small stone filter for about 3 bucks that will fit the fuel line perfectly. As Bear mentioned, you want a free flowing filter. Insert the filter with the stone side facing the petcock so you can visually see the potential collected debris. The small stone filter will fit you...

Re: Cone O Stone Fuel Filter
Just took the little Spree out for a half hour spin. The new filter works GREAT! Unlike the paper filter, there is always fuel in the see-thru clear filter. Wheelman ROCKS!!! Thank you my friend. The motor hums at idle and accelerates very well. I can brake hard after WOT and motor continues to hum ...

Re: Cone O Stone Fuel Filter
Wheelman's photo skills might earn a Pulitzer prize! Very well done and clear. They just opened an O'Reilly's near me a few weeks ago and I purchased the same little filter for $2.79 plus tax. I finally handled the elusive stone this morning. It's made by Prime Line. The manager I talked to said to ...
