Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?

Nice little race bike! I haven't been able to get myself to like the 12 inch wheels - makes a motorcycle look like a toy to me... Well, this was a race bike and when I started in the early 90's, skinny 17" race tires were hard to come by. All the street legal tires I tried would let go without...

Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?

Here's a couple more pics of my race bike detailed earlier in this thread. Fitted with Lockhart spun alum. YSR wheels.

Re: new scooter laws in MD??

Just to set the record straight, starting Oct. 1st., 50cc scooters and mopeds are required to be to titled and insured, but not registrared. A sticker will be issued, not a plate. As to why? Well, for one thing, Md. has one of the most liberal Govenors and the State is all about taxing, spending(Soc...

Re: good scooter for 100 lb girl?

Hopping up 2 wheeled vehicles for girlfriends often turns out bad.
If you really care for her, you will leave the Aero alone.
45 mph seems fast enough to me.
If she needs to go faster, buy her a car.

Re: Help! 1985 Spree Transmission Problem?

The Spree does not use a transmission, the ratio is fixed.
If the belt looks ok, the next step might be to lightly sand the clutch shoes.

Re: Need some sage advice and wisdom

I suspect the muffler.
"Chemical cleaning" sounds like it should work, but I never have seem it to be effective.

All the way though the two chambers inside the the muffler[It's really not a "pipe"].
I used a big two-handed drill motor.

Re: Rare 89 Spree

I had a dirt bike that would run backwards, a 1972 Yamaha MX 100.
But it used piston port induction and contact breaker points type ignition.
2-cycle engines with a reed valve induction and/or electronic ign. will not run backwards

Re: Possible Bystarter?

I've had lots of trouble with Honda bystarters. They are likely to fail to work properly and that leads to easy cold starts, good cold running, and poor warm running with falling fuel mileage. The bystarter is a type of needle valve that controls a secondary air/fuel circuit that runs around the ma...

Re: Possible Bystarter?

Honda auto-chokes are very reliable and usually only develop problems when people start messing with them. Also, It only acts on the starting circuit which functions only on the very bottom of the carb's metering range. Once the motor is up to temp, the auto choke has nothing to do with how the scoo...

Re: 86spree new belt failure clutch problems. only 500 miles

Agreed, the Spree clutch is 100% bulletproof and in all likelyhood shouldn't have been taken apart.
The second belt failure is related to the installation. Right belt? Drive face properly installed, fully seated? Enough torque?
Something along those lines.

Agreed, the carb is still dirty.
The O.P. needs to reference this post and the Wiki til he can get it right.
