Re: help???? Spree wiring
found it on a shelf where i put it so i would not loose it. The problem was remembering that I put it there in the first place. It is installed. All i have left to do is to finish the battery re-charge, put the tank and seat back on, and hopefully fire it up on the first shot. Any schooling on primi...

help???? Spree wiring
I have my 1984 spree back together after installing the taz big bore kit and gears, as well as 3" tires and some cosmetic work. I am just about done, but stuck with 2 last important details. The first is a white plug coming out of the wiring harness. Were does it connect? http://i802.photobucke...

Re: installed taz gears.
I look forward to reaping the benefits of these. A grinding or whiring sound from them concerns me though. It can only lead to trouble because perhaps they dont fit quite right. Was looking to see if anyone has installed them without. Should they be installed without the washer?

Re: installed taz gears.
Im having these installed right now. I assumed they were a proven product when I bought them. Has anyone had success with them yet? No noises and an increase in speed? What should I look for when I get it back? I will ask the guy who is doing it to leave the clutch off so I can inspect. Will take ph...

Re: 3.0 X10 Tires on Spree. Will this work?
Thanks for the input. Local machinist (bike wrench by day) will mill my head, and install the taz gears for $30. Money well spent as far as im concerned. Will keep posted on speed difference and comfort of ride once i get it back together. With the big list of other work i would like to do, includin...

Re: 3.0 X10 Tires on Spree. Will this work?
Thanks. Muffler was chemical dipped (worked great) wire wheel sanded to bare metal, primed with high temp primer, and painted with rustoleum rattle can grill paint which is supposed to be tolerant to heat up to 1500 degrees. We will see how it holds out as the season goes on. I like the finish of it...

3.0 X10 Tires on Spree. Will this work?
I am in the process of rebuilding my 84 spree. Sprucing it up a bit, and installing Taz bbk and gears. The head is going to machinist today to get milled. Also may just have him install gears because I can get the clutch off (any help on that would be awesome, and allow me to get motor soda washed $...

Re: Current/previous Occupation
Im a salesman in the printing and publishing industry by day and the skipper of a high tech racing catamaran in my mind. With the printing industry starting to die a very slow death, was thinking about painting used scooter parts with a rattle can to make ends meet.

Re: Good deal on Elite in RI $300
Are you anywhere near RI? I live there. They have 3 different hondas at the same place. Was thinking of going and looking at them, but would have a hard time explaining to the wife why I have 4 scoots in the basement!!! Looks like a nice bike, but I also fear it might be a rental from a Newport fleet.

Re: What Kind of Motor is this?
Looks like I got what I paid for. I won the beat up spree, and the geely for $20 on ebay. Figured a running scoot out of the two of them was too good to be true, but I am a dreamer. I think its time to put this all aside, strip the parts that I need from the spree, and finish my Tazland bbk/gear swa...

What Kind of Motor is this?
This is the motor from the Geely scooter I got in conjunction with the Spree on an ebay buy. The spree motor was pretty shot (see my other post in general discussion). This one appears to be in much better condition, and if it ok, will probably put it into the spree frame. My first question is, does...

Re: New Spree Owner
I broke down the motor to the Spree last night. Looks like it was stored outside without the sparkplug in. The amount of vegitative crap and rust that I have scraped from the inside of this thing is staggering. That being said, everything seems to be turning, alothough some a little rougher than oth...
