dale try pulling the spark plug out , then try cranking the motor . i have a 86 also bought it about a month ago when I got it wasnt running the last person who owned it cranked on it so much the cyclinder filled up with gas and oil make sure you put a tolew over the spark plug whole or you may have...

man that sounds like my spree but mine will still go 30mphbut it make all the noise your talking about.i'm going for rebiuld

pull the plug try spinning the motor over see if anything comes out of the spark plug holethe previuos owner may have got too much gas and oil in the motor
