Revisting the belt/clutch problem.

I am having problems with accelerating and climbing hills and then after a it has warmed up after about 15minutes of riding I can barely make it go. I bought a brand new belt and my spree was running great for about three days. Now it is back to the same old problem. I was wondering if that dark bro...

I had the same problem. By the time I realized it I had smashed the bump so flat that the throttle valve would not fit over it. I finally took a screwdriver and scraped the thing out. Don't ask me why it is made out of plastic and not metal. Throttle valve worked fine afterward. Got my spree up to a...

Can anyone help me out on this one? What about some sort of belt dressing to make the belt stick better? Would that work?

How do I know if my center spring is worn?

Well, I am starting to have problems again with low end power. This stupid thing was running fine after I put the new belt on, drove it around for 3-4 days (great low end and top end power) and now I am losing my low end power. I just bought a new belt so it can't be that. The whole belt/pulley syst...

Fixed top speed by cracking open airbox. Is that BAD?

I finally figured out that my spree will go from 25mph flat to 31-32mph on flat ground just by cracking open the lid on my airbox. Just wanted to check if that will damage my engine at all. All i did was just pop open the latches, the lid is still screwed down tight. I saw that some people wrote to ...

I will try readjusting the idle again and see if that does it.

Weird Idle problem

Ok so I got my spree back up and running after installing the new belt. It ran fine last night and today it seems to have lost about 3mph. I did no changes to the spree except add new gas and the only difference is that it is a little colder today. I did have two caps of seafoam in the first tank of...

Here's my two cents. I just bought my own 85' spree and it had some of the same problems as yours. For the turn signal I just went to autozone and bought a three dollar indicator relay switch and replaced the old one and now that works fine. My starter also would not work at all. I guess after sitti...

Well I finally got my belt from honda and sure enough that was the problem. My little generic spree (no modifications) now holds 20-25 up hills and 27-30 on flat. So if you are losing power and can't make it up hills. Try checking your belt.

Everyone should do this!

After searching through many posts I am impressed with all the information and grateful to everyone who has helped all us honda noobs out. However, I have a suggestion to everyone who posts a question/problem. Many times multiple solutions are posed by various knowledgeable users in an attempt to so...

Yeah, there was a small plastic knob in the carburetor pipe that you line up the throttle valve. Don't ask me why plastic and not metal. Stupid if you ask me. Anyways i broke it off because it was so bent and smashed anyways and now the throttle is working...belt or something keeps slipping horribly...

Well, after your suggestion myspree, i took another closer look and the little plastic raise on the inner slide was bent and crooked and thus wasn't allowing me to push the valve all the way down and thus wasn't allowing the spring to fully extend. Anyways i ended up breaking the raised plastic part...

Will it slide down below the top part of the metal tube on the carburetor or if the throttle valve is flush has it slide down as far as it will go.

I am going crazy!

So I went to check my fuel valve to see if anything was wrong (see post on high rpms and no power) and when i went to put it back together I cant get the stupid throttle cable to work. It seems that when i screw on the throttle cap it squeezes the spring together and if i move the throttle cable the...

Does this sound right to you?

So I took my 85' spree out that i just got, which hasn't been rode in ten years, and all of the sudden it will not climb any hills and goes into really high revs and then just bogs down and won't move up the hill. Also top speed on flat ground is reduced. The problem gets worse the more I ride. Here...
