Re: Clutch bad???

If you notice a small buck you might have just poped of one of the springs. But usually it will buck a little when idleing, and you would hear the spring in there getting knocked around. I dont think this a clutch problem. Try this. Take your air filter and clean it good. Start up the scooter and r...

Re: Carb leaking problem.....STILL!!!!

Here is my post that shows an opened petcock. It may help you with attempts to bring yours back to proper operation (if that's one of the problems of course). http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10162&hilit=petcock Well I got home today and pulled the fuel line off the carb...

Re: Clutch bad???

An impact wrench is the only tool to use in my opinion. Thats if you know what your doin. Inspect your belt first it might not even be the problem. Remeber the spree is a slug and is not a strong scooter to begin with. Did you even tune the scooter up after it sat around? could be as simple as a go...

Re: Carb leaking problem.....STILL!!!!

did you replace the float yet? check to see if it is filling up. ther could be a small crack in it and fuel is seeping into the float weighing it down keeping the needle open. petcock could be sticking open or have a hole in the diaphram. the float is good....no fuel inside of it the times I have t...

Re: Carb leaking problem.....STILL!!!!

Like Wheelman mentioned in the other post - try polishing the needle valve seat with rubbing compound (or toothpaste if desperate) on the end of a Q-Tip. Dremel makes a good lapping tool for this. After re-assembly, test that the valve is air tight at the correct float height by blowing down the fu...

It is a 1986 model and I bet that it has the original one on it........just bought it abouot a month ago and it only had 607 miles on it. Do I need to change out the drive belt? If so, how hard is it? Thanks!!

Re: Clutch bad???

The signs of a bad clutch. Good question. Here is the answer. #1 You clutch will start to buck forward when in idle. That is when the springs loose tension or one spring breaks. #2 Clutch pads glaze up just like brake pads and every once in a while you can sand the cluth pads of with heavy grit(not...

Re: Fuel coming out non-stop through overflow. Bad petcock?

So, here's the problem. I finally got it running. Now gas is coming out 24/7 through the carb's overflow. I turned around and saw a huge puddle. Without even touching it, it's leaking. I'm assuming it's a bad petcock and that the valve isn't closing, thus it's flooding the carb and my garage. Yea, ...

Carb leaking problem.....STILL!!!!

OK, have had some fuel come out the overflow. Already cleaned the carb, replaced the float valve needle with a NEW one and it STILL leaks. What should I try next......new float itself? Is there any way to adjust it? I mean it is just the float, a pin, and a screw holding it down. Only other thing it...

Re: Fuel leak......new part.

I'm hoping that the new float (needle) will fix it......if not then I guess I will have to buy the plastic float itself. I'll let y'all know......

Fuel leak......new part.

OK, my 86 Spree is still leaking fuel after cleaning everything and having to put the original float seat back in since the one Honda gave me was incorrect. The leak is coming out the overflow from what I can tell.....but not out of the overflow tube like I thought it would......it's on the bottom o...
