Thanks Brad. Trouble is, I've never had any trouble with my Sprees (that's ASKING for it!) in 20 years, so I have not become familiar with pulling them apart!

Does this still apply if you're 200lbs of gleaming muscle, and your 20 year-old Spree still hit 32 on the flat?

Sprees are too valuable to lend out, especially to (forgive me) idiots, to wreck.

They are not very valuable in terms of money (until you have to replace one) but as 'artifacts!'

That's what I think!

One of my '86 SPrees has well over 4,000 miles and runs as well as the 1,700 mile one. Neither has had any maintenance apart from brake cables & tyres. One had a carb gasket kit after it had not run for 9 years. (Though it started on the 4th kick!). I always run at WOT, so I wonder why so many b...

We played with very fast Italian 50cc bikes in South Africa. Itom and Garelli were two. These were racing-style bikes with 6-speed gearboxes, light fairings, etc. To raise the compression ratio, we would remove the head gasket and then glue it back down with Pliobond (you can get this in the Northea...

CAN'T DO A WHEELIE? TRY DRIFTING!

My '86 Sprees ride very well despite the fact that I run with 30 psi or more, aespesially aft for hard cornering and trail-braking (!) into corners. I find the drum brakes to be amazing for the weight & speed of the bikes as they are, but it would be fun to make a Rod out of one. SOme serious st...
