The mixture screw is the amount of fuel added for idle.
The idle speed screw is the amount of air.
The fuel amount after idle is controled by the main jet.
This is not adjustable.

Carb Adj
You can adjust the idle mixture and speed only. The top screw with the spring is idle speed. The one under it is mixture. The staring point for this one is: Pre 86 - 1-7/8 turns out 86 - 1-1/2 turns 87 - 1-3/8 turns. This is the starting point. You might have to vary it a little, once you have the i...

The hose near the rear wheel is the fuel drain for the carb.
Check the screw near the bottom of the carb, this is for draining
the carb before taking ot off. This screw should be tight.

Elec Prob
As I said, the key switch does not supply any elec power to make the eng run. It supplies power for the starter, horn, stop light and signals.
Will it kick start? A Honda Spree will kick start with the key off, if you discounect the ground (green) wire to the ign switch.

Kill switch has no power. It grounds out the CDI to kill the eng. The ign switch does the same.

No Power
If the horn works, the fuse is good and power is getting in and out of the ign switch. It sounds like a disconnected or broken wire after the ign switch. Pull off the horn cover and upper inst cover. The problem wire should be solid black. Using a test light would help you find it.

Runs backwards
I did not know that this was the same eng that runs backwards. I think the problems are separate. For the brake switch problem, try disconnecting the starter relay. This looks like the only place that a feedback could occur. I have to admit that I am confused about the running backwards. Where are y...

Runs only with brake
First - What year Spree is this? Are you sure it is only with the rear brake. On 85-87 Spree, both left and right switches are wired in series. This means both should do the same thing. Access the brake light switch wiring. Disconnect switches one at a time and see if problem goes away. Does electri...

No, but an auto steering wheel puller will work. You can get one cheap at an auto parts store.

Reed Valves
First inspect them with a small flashlight for any gaps. They should be fully closed. If nec take the reed valve assy out of the case to inspect it. Be carefull not to break it. I usually go under it with a sharp knife. Inspect them with a light. They should be fully closed. If the are, they are OK....

Exhaust Tip
I have done the same after doing decarb with torch. I used a piece of
3/4 inch conduit for the tip. I brazed mine. This works better with thin-wall rusty metal and is strong enough for this small pipe.
