Good motor, not so good frame.

Hey guys,
I have an '85 Aero 50. The motor runs excellent, but the frame is bent like a politician. What other models could my motor bolt to?

Thanks for any feedback.

Re: Spree carb needle question

Not sure if this will help. I ran into the same problem with my 85 aero. The service manual I have doesn't explain the needle slots that well. A helpful person on this site said to just use trial and error. Pick one of the slots, run the 'ped, then check your plug to see if you're running rich or le...

Re: Engine/piston work

Does it run? If it does, let it run for maybe 15 min. Piston rings expand as they warm up. So if you hook a compression tester to your motor you are going to get a low reading. Just from experience....

Re: '85 Aero. Was doing the passing, now is being passed.

Yea the problem started after put the gutted exhaust on there. I did do a compression test on it today and it barely pushed 50psi. Then I realized it was cold, DUH! I took the exhaust off and checked the port and it wasn't clogged at all, a few spots but nothing major. Look the amount of feedback on...

'85 Aero. Was doing the passing, now is being passed.

Hey guys, When my dad first purchased this scooter, it was fast. About maybe a year and a half ago i had the speedometer pegged at 40mph. Now it struggles to do 30. It does however have a gutted exhaust on it. I'm not sure if this would have something to do with it or not. The piston rings are fairl...

Ok just checking. Here's another question that you all may have heard. For the jet needle, it says to place the clip on the fourth groove on it. Is it four grooves from the TOP or the BOTTOM?

Re: 85 Aero, Consistent starting problem. Need some help!

Now here's where I get confused. I run snowmobiles in the winter time. And everytime I put a hotter sparkplug in it, i burn a hole in the piston. Would I run into the same problem if I put a #8 or #9 NGK on my little 50cc?

Re: 85 Aero, Consistent starting problem. Need some help!

I took the carb apart and sure enough the jet needle inlet and the petcock were clogged really bad. I put the strainer back in the gas tank and cleaned the carb and petcock. It runs good now, my battery is deader then M J though. If I put a cone filter on it, would I have to rejet the carb and what ...

Re: 85 Aero, Consistent starting problem. Need some help!

I've continued to mess with it the past couple of days. Here's what I found. The jet needle was on the wrong groove, or so I thought. It tells you what groove it should be in the manual, but, it doesn't say if it's four grooves from the top or the bottom. I put the vacuum tube from the petcock and s...

85 Aero, Consistent starting problem. Need some help!

Hello everybody,
I've got a 85 Aero 50 that i've had a problem with for a while. After sitting overnight, it won't start. I have gas and spark. I've rebuilt the carb twice. A friend of mine swears its the petcock, but don't think it is. Any ideas? Thanks.
