Re: Troubles with the Spree.

So put a bigger jet in it, but if you made no changes to the engine, then there has to be an air leak somewhere or a fuel restriction for it to be lean. Those are the only options. Agreed, as that carburetor never ran lean. Has to be an air leak somewhere. Where else can I check for a air leak? I'v...

Re: Troubles with the Spree.

Ok so I bought a rebuilt carb and I'm still running lean! I've checked everything over and nothing is leaking, everything is tight, and nothing is cracked. I've read the manual and old posts and done everything and the thing still runs lean.

Re: Troubles with the Spree.

That is caused by corrosion from the alcohol in the fuel collecting water and then the fuel evaporates leaving the water to sit in the carb causing all kinds of *, thanks EPA. Get a small wire brush and eliminate the stuff. A small screw drive and a couple of dental picks will help. Unless the corr...

Re: Troubles with the Spree.

Ok so I have come to the conclusion that my carb is the culprit. I've cleaned it the best I can with the best chemicals the State of California will allow me to buy, but it still has white all inside. I'm thinking of getting a new carb, since this one is beyond my ability. white? http://imgur.com/A...

Re: Troubles with the Spree.

Did you check the float level when the carb was apart? While checking for leaks, did you check the air box and tube? Oh and what method did you use to check for vacuum leaks? Please discribe how you did your plug chop? The float seemed to be the right level. I did check the air box and tube, and I ...

Re: Troubles with the Spree.

Greetings: Quoth Alemeno: I did a plug chop and it was fairly white. I adjusted it more (Emphasis added)and took it around the block a few times... You may be correct in surmising that it's running too lean, but you should know that there is no "adjusting" the main jet circuit. You can sp...

Re: Troubles with the Spree.

Ok so I replaced the spark plug and made sure the airbox and everything was nice and tight. It still runs lean no matter which way I adjust it. What can I try now? How do you know it is running lean? I did a plug chop and it was fairly white. I adjusted it more and took it around the block a few ti...

Yes you hold it wide open while doing compression test.
Oh didn't know that. I retested it with WOT and I get a reading of 125-130psi.
