Re: Jr's Ruck-a-like Spree
I got the nudie-scoot idea from someone in the scooter pics thread, and I'm sad to say I don't remember whose it was. I believe it was an Elite that he did. If you match this description, please tell me who you are so I can give you a big shout-out. Tiffanyspree did this one http://farm4.static.fli...

Jr's Ruck-a-like Spree
Hey all! I though I'd show you guys just what I've been up to. (no-picture part) Nearly two years ago I bought an '86 Spree for $100 on craiglist. The PO used it as a pit bike for his son's motocross events, so when I first got it, everything was caked in mud. I really just wanted to dip my toes int...

Re: where do I find aftermarket grips for the spree
Measure your bar diameter and take that to any bike shop. Tell them the grips are for a twist throttle. Word up! A lot of bike grips for cruisers look really awesome on Sprees. The easiest thing to do is to buy a rubber grip, throw a little bit of dish soap on it and slide it on. A little bit of ef...

So I went and ruined my engine case.
Hi all, it's been awhile. I was working on restoring an '86 Spree 50, part of which included a big-bore kit. I put everything in just fine, but the bolts holding the head down to the engine case are now totally stripped/plugged up with parts of screws and, of course, I can't get any compression. My ...

Re: Ch-ch-ch-- no engine movement when trying to start
Awwright. Got a new bystarter in, did some bodywork, installed a BBK-- here it is in its test-fitted glory. Everything is nice and gasketed. I'll post again once I've hooked everything back up.

Re: Surviving on the road--how do you do it?
With most Sprees only getting 45mph at full throttle, I ask (foremost in curiosity) because I'm gearing up to have a working Spree soon I am guessing that you have never rode your Spree before, or anyones Spree before? I guess I'm an optimist. If they don't get even that, how do you guys manage in ...

Surviving on the road--how do you do it?
Hey all. As everyone knows, visibility in traffic is the greatest enemy of anything on two wheels. With most Sprees only getting 45mph at full throttle, and being the dainty things they are, they rarely get seen in a sea of minivans and SUVs. I ask (foremost in curiosity) because I'm gearing up to h...

Replace the bystarter, or the wax itself?Bear45-70 wrote:The wax is what makes the bystarter work, yeah I would replace mine if it did that.

Re: Ch-ch-ch-- no engine movement when trying to start
So I was cleaning up the carb, and a little bit of wax fell out of the slot the bystarter (?) goes into. Should I replace that?

Re: Ch-ch-ch-- no engine movement when trying to start
Greetings: Rings are "broken"? Sorry if this sounds elementary, but rings have a split to permit installation and expansion. I would expect a broken ring to fall off the piston in at least 2 chumks upon withdrawal from the cylinder. No, no, I mean split into several pieces. I fished all o...

Re: Ch-ch-ch-- no engine movement when trying to start
....am I crazy for wanting to put a big bore kit on it now?
I mean, maybe it'll be usable in the city if a 48mm can haul a 160-lb chick around...
dammit, this forum is getting to my head!
