Re: SE50 13T gear and countershaft questions

Thanks for the info. I understand it now. I looked at the cost of new honda gears and they are a little over 150.00 for the three gears. I will keep my eyes out to see if I can find a good used set.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

Re: SE50 13T gear and countershaft questions

I found the link for the gear swaps. But... there were two different guys doing it two different ways and there was never a definitative "this is exactly how its done" type conclusion. At least in the thread i read anyway. I got the general jist of what needs to be bought and what needs to...

Re: SE50 13T gear and countershaft questions

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that.

Is there a thread on here that shows how to modify the dio gears? I have a buddy that owns a machine shop, if it machining that is needed I am sure he can handle it. I just need to know what needs to be done.

THANKS

SE50 13T gear and countershaft questions

I have a 89 Elite Lx with the AF05 engine and I am interested in swapping the gears to the 10:1 SE50 gear set to get a little more topend. My question is this... You can still find the 13T primary gear which is part of what I need. The part that seems to be discontinued is the countershaft. The coun...

Re: Tecnigas Next R pipe performance?

I am not sure of the bore yet. I thought about the Ruima. I loke the Corsa but it is pretty costly. I see the Malossi for sale as well and that is probably a pretty good bore. I see alot of people running the corsa but $325 is a little pricey. What is the name of the PG long copy you mentioned? Woul...

Re: Tecnigas Next R pipe performance?

Thanks for the info

One reason I liked the V8 is because it wasnt too loud. Is the PG pipe considerably louder than stock?

Tecnigas Next R pipe performance?

I have seen some of these pipes and they look pretty good especially the chrome ones. I was wondering has anyone run one of these pipes and do they give good performance? I have run a 28mm YMS V8 pipe on one of the scooters I build and was very happy with the performance and sound of the pipe. I kep...

Re: 1985 aero 50 mods

I purchased a kit via ebay for $75.00. It was an RIK kit. It was $10.00 to ship it for a total of 85. It was a good kit, worked great. You will have to have your head opened up, but that is easy for a machine shop to do.

Re: Ruckus variator VS. Dio style variator

THANKS Wheelman!!

Good info, I think I am going to just go with the standard size variator then and get the other gears swapped in and go from there. I am going to fit the pipe up and try and make a gasket. Hopefully I can get it to seat properly and seal up.

Awesome feedback, thanks again.

Re: Ruckus variator VS. Dio style variator

Well I am hoping mine will do the same. It has 118-120 lbs of compression. Hopefully that is decent. I have purchased a 28mm V8 pipe, I am afraid that could kill alot of my bottom end, but I am going to try it. If it does I will take it off and wait till the future when the BBK goes on. I am definit...

Re: Ruckus variator VS. Dio style variator

Ok gotcha. If I were to add a pipe and rejet the carb accordingly do you think that would add enough extra power to pull the larger variator? Another question... I had thought about changing out the rear gear set to a 9:1 ratio for more top end. Assuming I changed the variator, upgraded the exhaust ...

Ruckus variator VS. Dio style variator

Hello- I need some opinions..... Hopefully some that have tried what I am thinking of doing. I have a AF16 model engine and I am doing a few up grades. I am going to purchase a Polini variator for the engine and have heard swapping in the Ruckus style variator will give a little more top end. I real...

Re: 1985 aero 50 mods

Hello, I am modifiying a AF05 engine and installing a Ruckus Variator. Looking for a simple swap on the gears in the rear. Wheelman- you mentioned an 87 Aero 13 tooth clutch shaft, if I could come up with one of those to give me a 10:1 ratio what else would be involved in swapping that in? Would I h...

Re: '89 Elite LX De-restrict

I am going tohave to find one of those Ruckus variators. sounds like that is the ticket.

Once I get one of those, should I change up the spring situation in the clutch? Any recommendations on that?? And are the springs the same as a dio engine?

THANKS

Re: '89 Elite LX De-restrict

Thanks for the info I will pull that variator off and see if there are any restrictions on it. Good call. Question when you say there that the 05 engine will not have enough gear do you mean it is too low a gear and I need to higher? I thought this engine had somewhere around a 11:1 gear set and tha...
