So I took and clipped the throttle cable off from the splitter and used a nut and washer to the frame to tie the throttle cable down so I can still ride it... if unsafe due to wo...

Re: Just bought my 87 Spree
Nice bike. I have the Elite model with same carb. But be careful with it, or you might strip the fragile threads to bolt it on. Mine ended up being damaged but the newer carb I picked up bolted on with replaceable nuts.

Re: 1987 Elite 50 mods HELP!!
I'm thinking of buying this machine. How fast were they stock and how easy can it be modded. If I am correct, there are many things you and get and or modify to fit these to really run. I like the small 50cc elite/ spree types Thanks for your help!! Ronnie The SE50 unrestricted model runs 35 easy, ...

My SE50 stock hits 40mph, but 35mph is the usual constant.

Re: stiff front forks
i just had a word with the previous owner, they filled with hydrolic fluid. And this is why NO ONE should work on these things without the service manual. Good advice. Took my variator apart to change to new weights. Still had the stock weights in it, and my entire variator was filled with grease. ...

Re: 1987 spree runs for 45 sec then dies
Well a bad petcock could flood the motor IF fuel was passing through the vac line straight into the intake, although the poster above is the only person I've heard of this happening to. More likely its the needle seat (since you replaced the needle already). Also while you have the carb off to poli...

Re: new aero owner, two weeks later....
I plan on getting that manual, some way or other... but I can't view it here on this barebones laptop. Perhaps I'll buy one... Well, I took out the dead battery and she started right up so I guess I didn't sizzle anything. I got the new battery on the charger now and we'll see about taking it out i...

Re: SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!
pull the petcock vacuum line off of the carb and suck on it, if fuel sucks into your mouth, your petcock is bad. Mine did this and it would not run properly until I replaced it. It would run like crap but once I unhooked the vacuum line it would run great until it ran out of fuel in the bowl.
