Spree cuts out at 15mph
I have an all stock 84 Honda Spree. It was barely running so I drained out all of the old gas and cleaned the carburetor. It starts right up and runs good, but when riding, at about 15mph the engine loses power like it's stalling. If I keep trying to accelerate then it will stall, but if I let off t...

Re: How to break down an engine?
Yeah it cranks over just fine. My friend bought it non running, turns out it had a broken piston. He honed the cylinder and put in a new piston and rings, and tried getting it running. It wouldn't start, but who knows why. I just want to be sure that there aren't any piston chunks hanging out in the...

How to break down an engine?
I have an SE50 motor that I want to sell as non running but rebuildable. I have NO idea what condition the inside of the motor is in. I would feel better about selling it if I could break it down and take some pictures. Do I need any special tools to split the cases? Special pullers? thanks

Re: How fast will it go?
Okay okay! I've only researched variators enough to know that I need an aftermarket one to do what I want with the scooter. The advertisements I've seen all focus mainly on the increased top speed by way of the variator "adding an extra gear". So I'll just put it together with a nice varia...

Re: How fast will it go?
Greetings: Stock-ish SE/05 variated engines run 40-ish. If you have the 10:1 gears it might go a bit faster downwind... 40 in a spree or in the SE50? If it does 40ish on the SE50 then I think I can be pretty happy with my setup (variator doesnt change bottom end power, only adds top speed, and the ...

How fast will it go?
I have an 87 SE50 motor I'm rebuilding for an 84 spree. I'm trying to get as much as I can out of it without a big bore kit, using the stock airbox (as soon as I can find one) and stock exhaust. I'm going to hone the cylinder and use new rings on the old piston, and am thinking about installing a bi...

Re: Green wire from engine- where does it go?
Son of a *! I grounded out the green wire and she fired right up and runs GREAT. I put some extra oil in the gas to make sure the oil injection was working and it smoked me out of the garage after a minute. It's making this ticking noise in the engine now, what does it sound like when the bearings a...

Green wire from engine- where does it go?
I just bought a replacement motor for my spree, and the motor has a green wire coming from it, and there isn't any wire on my bike for it to connect to. It's wrapped up with a blue wire, and I have a match for the blue wire. On my old motor, there is only a blue wire, no green. I can't get it to sta...

How to start an SE50 motor, not mounted to the frame
I have an SE50 motor in my basement that I'm "rebuilding". I'd like to get it running before I try to mount it in the spree, but the wiring has me a little confused. How can I wire up the coil, and the electric starter and bystarter? Thanks for any help!

Re: I need a BBK for an 87 SE50
Gears are part of it, but it's all centered around the BBK. If I can't get that, have to go in a different direction

I need a BBK for an 87 SE50
I have an old 87 SE50 motor that I'm rebuilding for my spree. What BBK works best with a stock muffler and carb? Would there be any benefit to running a pod filter instead of the stock airbox? It's ridden on 35 and 40mph streets, so my end goal is to cruise at 45 mph at part throttle with good accel...

Re: 87 elite 50 race build
How fast does that thing go? Looks awesome. What do you have for an exhaust? Oh, and is there any chance you'd want to sell the stock carb and airbox from the SE50?

Re: 87 SE50 won't start
Did you try manually choking it with your fingers over the carb? I would check the float needle and float to make sure everything is good. Check the reeds too It's funny you should say that. I was thinking about the idea of the air filter creating a restriction and enrichening the fuel mixture, so ...

87 SE50 won't start
I'm working on an 87 SE50 for a friend. The motor only has 500 miles on it (off of another 87 SE50), bought to replace the blown stock engine. I can't get this d*** thing to run! I have the bikes original carb on it (had 3,500 miles) I've soaked it in carb cleaner and blown it out with compressed ai...
