Re: No start on 01 50cc 2t Kymco

Wood10214, Thank you for your help. After reading your post, I found a youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSKQiO-Fyss) showing "testing" of a relay on a Kymco super 8 and the sound is exactly what i am experiencing. Does that in itself mean the issue is with the relay itself? Un...

No start on 01 50cc 2t Kymco

First, let me say that there has been NOTHING CLOSE TO THE QUALITY OF SUPPORT that this site offers. That alone adds worth to buying a Honda. I was hoping that the Kymco I bought really just needed a carb cleaning.... I have an 01 50cc 2t Cobra that I bought used and not running. I replaced the auto...

Re: What brand carb cleaner do you like?

Service manager at Kymco shop said I should buy this: http://www.harborfreight.com/ultrasonic ... -3305.html and use with Carquest super Clean.

Thats the type of system they use and charge $35 to clean carbs.

He said it will get anything off.

Im going to try it tonight.

DIO and Kymco part compatibility

I was under the impression that all 50cc Kymco 2t engines were the same. According to Motorscooterguide.net "...all Kymco 2-stroke 50ÔÇÖs) use the same motor..." And I was told many of the Honda DIO parts would fit most Kymco's. Can anyone confirm if this is indeed the case? Why? I am look...

Converting bystarter to manual choke

Hello. I am investigating converting my 01 Kymco Cobra carb to a manual choke and removing the bystarter all together. Has anyone successfully performed a similar conversion on either a Kymco or Honda? I am interested in getting a better understanding of the impact of such a move so I can determine ...

Re: Bystarter compatibility

Hmm, that is the problem. The kymco bystarter is missing the needle and collar (metal portion of the bystarter).

So, I don't know just how identical they really are then. I'm bringing them to a local kymco shop Wednesday and see what they think.

Thanks

Bystarter compatibility

Hello all. Im in need of a bystarter for my 01 kymco 50cc cobra. When I took it off the carb, I decided to compare it to my spree by starter. And with the exception of the wiring connectors, it looks identical. I'm not sure if there are certain "standards" in one bystarter that makes it on...

What do you use to clean your scooter?

My project today is to clean the engine compartment. I was hoping some type of dollar store product would work.

What do you use?

Re: Found 01 kymco cobra

Thanks wheelman. I should have time tonight to really take a look. I do not have any local sources for a coil. So, before i donated my money for a new one, I wanted to know if there is a means of testing the existing coil fitter? A seller from hawaii seemed to imply that his will fit my kymco and am...

Re: Found 01 kymco cobra

I couldn't let this one go by. So I got it. Btw, is the dio engine one that mounts horizontal? This one does, unlike my spree. I'm having a hard time locating a user manual for this. I found a parts manual though. I need several misc items including coil (according to seller spark is yellow and not ...

Found 01 kymco cobra

It's my understanding that this has the same engine as the dio. Can someone confirm? It has had work done on it. (rings redone) and it needs a coil. I found out it has a lot of miles - 27,000 My gut tells me to stay away from it. Selling it for $300. What do you think? http://hartford.craigslist.org...

Re: Any one in CONNECTICUT?

(According to speedo which we know is wrong) I stick with 25-27 when cruizing. Can get to 30 or so. But I don't want to push the little guy as it is my only transportation at the moment. I've only seen 35 when going down hill. Felt nice. Only other concern with going any faster on the Spree is I am ...
