Wanted to say THANKS to all that responded. It's running properly...hopefully for the summer @ least.

I'm not going to say what obvious thing we overlooked , but reading the manual for the 3rd time lined out the error of our ways.

Your carb is flooding over. Do it again. Understood. Not 113 but 114 PSI is minimum in the manual. Looks like Honda's proof-reader didn't proof..... It actually started RIGHT UP last nite...then promptly quit. If I cranked it repeatedly (a few seconds @ a time) it would eventually start/stop. Thanks for the ideas. Update: Made up a test gas tank as described and gas is getting to the carb AND flooding the engine. Enough gas in the cyl. to hydro lock it. Remove the plug and turn it over and gas come spewing out and plug is wet. Shouldn't the float stop the flow of fuel? Soaking petcock as...
