Re: Too much oil?
Thanks for the replies... What are the effects of running too much oil? With the motor being stock, do I: 1. Just keep the oil pump zipped and not add any oil to the gas tank? or 2. Remove zip tie and carefully measure oil added to tank? What's the best/recommended ratio for my current set-up? Thank...

Too much oil?
Another noobie question....
I have the 2000 Elite S oil pump zipped wide open plus I add 1 oz of Castor 927 to the gas tank every fill-up. Is that too much oil? Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Slower after drive belt and tire change?
Thanks Wheelman, much appreciated. So I take it there's some kind of "break-in" period for the belt? I don't have any 8.5 but had 8's so I did 3x8 and 3x9 (51 grams). Found no flat spots. Slightly better acceleration but not as good as before with the old belt and tires. But kinda feels li...

Slower after drive belt and tire change?
I replaced my drive belt with a new OEM Bando. Also changed both tires with Pirelli SL26 90/90. I was able to hit 42-43 mph easily with the old belt and tires. Now scooter seems to get stuck at 40. Scooter also accelerates a lot slower. Any ideas? 2000 Elite S Stock Bore Keli variator 9:1 gears Airb...

Re: 41 mph Top Speed?
Did some more tuning over the weekend. Made a makeshift stone fire pit, fired up some charcoal and threw my muffler on it. Muffler must have been really clogged, it smoked and the tip lit on fire for a few minutes. Bit scary to be honest, didn't want to melt it or anything. Soon as the smoking stopp...

Re: 41 mph Top Speed?
Thanks for all the insights. I guess that's another reason for me to get my fat * in shape. I did the compression test on a cold motor so would it be any different if I tested the engine warm? Sorry, total noobie here. And if compression is indeed on the low side, would that mean I have to rebuild? ...

41 mph Top Speed?
I have recently acquired a 2000 Elite 50 S with 426 miles. I have since been on this site trying to soak up as much info as I can with regards to modifications. My goal is to keep it as stock as possible and to be able to cruise at 40-45 mph. Here's what I've done so far: Checked compression - 120 p...
