Check your air filter hose connection at carb/box... sounds like what mine did because it was pulling too much air. Gotta be a tight fit.

what does the varriator do? kinda new to these small engines.

I have an 86 spree and a trashed 87 Aero. Is it possible to swap my 86 nq50 engine for an 87 nb 50? will the Aero engine fit on the spree mounts? It looks smaller... but the nb50 has only 1500 miles on it...my spree just passed 13,000 miles and runs a bit tired.
