Re: Carb kit?

Ohdikay... So after some frustration with my Spree, I decided to take it to someone who knew what they were doing. It was the easiest and cheapest-my school's autos teacher. Evidently they start off with small engines and then move into cars. *shrugs* So, after warming the bike up for a few minutes...

Re: Honda Spree Mis-Titled?

What you might be able to do is go to the DMV on a rainy day or something (so you're not wasting time when you could be doing something fun outside, lol) and tell someone that you were given a scooter without a title and you'd like to go about acquiring one. As long as it's not listed as stolen, you...

1542. Mine was put into storage around 1450 miles, in 1989. Pulled out of storage in 2012 and I bought it at exactly 1500.1 miles. :woot:

Re: Rare 89 Spree

Busted flywheel key can cause this, or something messed up in the ignition module. Two-strokes work just as well in both directions. There was an old boat motor like that... You kill the motor, flip a switch to change the timing, start it up and you're in reverse...

Re: New guy with a pink spree

'86, right? I have an '85 with the same paint scheme. Your engine runs better than mine though, mine only hits 25. I think my float's getting stuck open or the needle is * because it sputters a lot and sucks gas.

Found this Spree for sale on craigslist. Unfortunately it's kinda far from me, and I really don't have the space for a second Spree... If anyone wants to look into it, the ad's like 25 days old, but here's the link. Appleton/Oshkosh WI area. http://appleton.craigslist.org/mcy/3191805117.html http://...

Re: Finally scored a Spree!

Nice. You're really lucky that you don't need plates, registration, or insurance for that thing. Here in IL, we're required to have all three, lol. I don't know if you know about this, but you may be able to free the motor up by pulling the head and pouring some automatic trans fluid into the cylind...

Re: My '85 Spree Only Hits 20

Needle on the float is stuck open. Pull carb and clean the crap out of it. Bear, Soaked the carb and reassembled it. Same thing still happens. Once the bystarter heats up and kicks in, it takes off great, just struggles from 15-20mph and can't go any further. I think it's running too rich. Tried an...

Re: My '85 Spree Only Hits 20

Well, I got lucky I guess. The bike had been sitting in this guy's garage for 20 years, side panels off, etc etc etc... Put it back together and threw an ad on Craigslist. When I went to buy it, the first thing I checked was the gas tank. Clean. Actually, the rustiest parts on the scoot were the muf...

Re: My '85 Spree Only Hits 20

pull the vac line off and see if fuel comes out. And confirm all of the lines are going to the right places. I bet a new petcock in in your future if there is fuel in the vac line and fuel runs out of it. It doesn't happen when the line's disconnected. Only when the bike's running. Lines are all co...

Re: My '85 Spree Only Hits 20

Just noticed. The bike shop replaced the vacuum line with a piece of clear line, is there supposed to be fuel in the vacuum line? It's not much, just a little bit. The tubing is slightly smaller than the barb it goes over, and there is a section 4-5" long that has fuel in it. Do I need a new pe...
