Re: Poor running spree times two

Have you tried adjusting the air and idle screws on the carb? Warm up the engine and turn air screw clockwise until the engine begins to stall. Then turn it counterclockwise until the engine reaches its highest rpms. Leave the air screw setting there. Now go to idle screw and turn down until you hea...

Re: Elite 50 will not start

Get a new petcock or fix the one you have. It is stuck open which allows gas flow all the time without vacuum applied. It is flooding out.

Re: Winterize/Storing my 2 Elites over the winter. Questions

You can get Stabil at any Wal-mart store. Read the directions on the bottle for the amount to use. I always fill up a small 1 or 2 gallon gas can and add the Stabil to it. Shake the can real good to distribute the Stabil in the gas and then fill up your gas tank with it. You should add the Stabil to...

Re: Winterize/Storing my 2 Elites over the winter. Questions

The main thing you want to do is add Stabil gas treatment to a fresh tank of gas. Yes it is a good idea to fill your gas tank to the top to prevent corrosion. Re: elite sr help

First check for spark. Take out the plug and hook spark plug wire to the end of it. Hold the electrode of the plug against metal part of engine. Have some one kick it over or try electric start. See if you see a spark by the tip of the plug. If you have spark then verify whether gas is flowing to th...

Moving the clip down on the needle will give you a richer mixture.
Moving it up will lean out your mixture.

Re: spree idles, no go.

Its the carb. You need to clean it out. Your lights dim because the engine is ready to konk out because the carb is blocked up inside and the engine is not getting the proper fuel.

Re: spree hasnt run "correctly" for around 10 years.

Attempting to clean the carb and actually doing it correctly are two different things. You have to literally take the carb apart and clean every part of it with ample amounts of carb cleaner. Either that or take it all apart and let everything soak in carb cleaner for a day or two. I suspect your va...

Remove your carburetor and disassemble it. Get a can of carburetor cleaner and clean every part of the inside thoroughly. Remove the main jet and spray spray spray. When you think it is clean do it again.

Re: 1986 Spree * Sputter...

Do you have an inline fuel filter installed between the vacuum valve and the carburetor? If not you should do so. It is a little added protection against dirt entering the carb.
