Re: soft seize?

I got everything back together, put it on the bike and did a compression check. 65psi
i'm convinced that it's the base gasket. i'm gonna put the stock bore back on and see what compression i get. if it's good i'm gonna order a new gasket for the 51mm bore.

Re: soft seize?

well i used my friend's press. baka, i had already put it back together b4 you left your advise of not pressing it together. It went back rather easy so i'm crossing my fingers that everything will be alright.

No crank tool here. looks like she's staying the way she is. thanks mystic.

Mystic wrote:You would need to split the cases if you are going to port the intake cause the shavings get everywhere and you dont want that stuff inside the crankcase when you run the motor cause it can score the piston and cylinder walls

yeah, that's why i was wondering if it would be worth it to do.

Re: soft seize?

Are there any scratches or score marks on this bore? Did you use a new head gasket when you installed it? There must be something your not seeing or is being overlooked to have such a huge compression lost or the gauge is now not working right. Did try another gauge? Or put a little oil in the spar...

Re: soft seize?

i checked the seal on the starter side. it's good. i can't figure out why my compression is so low so i scored another block for 30 bucks. hopefully i can have it together by middle of next week and see how she does.

10-4... i'll check that out tonight.
