Re: 89 elite wont runn???

OK, back on track. Since you're confident that your petcock is functioning properly when vacuum is applied, it is likely that your needle valve is sticking shut. What is supposed to happen is that: 1) vacuum is applied, causing fuel to run into the bowl, 2) bowl fills up until float rises, 3) needle...

Re: Help!!

Did your scoot run before you cleaned the carb? If so, we can narrow it down to issues with the carb rebuild/reassembly before we go in all sorts of directions. Keep in mind the airbox needs to be installed for it to run. You may want to read through this thread to see the issues that someone else i...

Yikes! Stay warm up there! So, are any of your scoots running studded tires? I used to have an SL70 I would run on frozen lakes in Wisconsin

Re: 1985 aero belt change

As long as you're in there, you might as well as give the variator/clutch surfaces a scrub/wipe down. I don't know what it is recommended, but I used some paint thinner and a light abrasive pad, making sure to wipe the surfaces clean with water when I was finished. Mine had a light film of oil/greas...

Re: Carb HELLLLP

If you can get to a hardware store, I would suggest spending a dollar and picking up a short length of hose for that drain tube. It's usually about 5 or 6 inches. It makes draining the carb a nice, clean job. Draining the carb bowl is something you should anytime you're not going to ride your scoot ...

Re: Spree bogging down with air filter?

Here's to hoping your part arrives by the end of the week. I know how frustrating it can be waiting on jagoff shipping and handling! The scooter would climb to just about 30 and not bog at all with the bottle cap setup that it had when i bought it. Now after installing the factory filter ...

I agree with bakaracer. You don't want to risk running without an oil filter. Is there a specific reason you want to run without it?

Re: 89 elite wont runn???

Let's back up a second... Is your carb back in place? If so, is the fuel bowl filling up now? If not, herein lies the primary issue. Until your carb is filling up with gas, I don't think you should assume the bystarter (or anything else) might be your problem. You mentioned early on in your posts th...

Re: How rusty is too rusty

So you used CLR to clean the tank? Were you impressed with the results? Do you have any pics? I have to clean a tank soon, and I didn't see CLR listed on this page: (I am considering the slower vinegar method)
