Re: Stock Oil Pump Delivery Ratio

Just measured my pump (not throttle controled) flow ratio: 60 ml oil for 1,9 l fuel = 1/31,6 or 3,1% as we used to say here in Europe :thumbwink:

Thanks but it's a very expensive jig (more than a replacement engine) and very specialised job.
What's your opinion about my Con Rod top end? Can I still mount a bearing in it and have a good engine without new seizure?

Re: Help: BBK piston seizure after 250Km

I've dismounted the BBK and the worst scenario appeared :ndance: : Con rod top bearing was distroyed and the pieces seized the engine  . Top bearing had not been replaced during BBK installation. Also the Con Rod top end is slightly dammadged showing signs off the bearing rolls: Should I also...

Help: BBK piston seizure after 250Km

:ndance: My engine seized yesterday after 250Km run-in even with 2% oil in the fuel.
I suspect the oil pummp to have a reduced flow :werd: !!
Any ideas how to test it or repair it?
Do I have to replace the cilinder+piston or a piston replacement is enough?
Thanks for yr. comments/help.

In fact my Transalp was imported from France to Portugal. The color is personal, slightly different from the original Honda reference.

Hi Rogerio, I had a look at your topic. No pics during the restoration project? I've some pics but the quality is not good. Nice to see another european member here. Are there some others??? Not to my knowledge Your paint job is superb! I like the blue metallic. Is it a Honda color for the NE or di...

Re: New member from France with a 1986 Aero 50

Hi Richard,
Very nice job and pictures. I've gone trough the same type of job on a NE50 (see my posts). At the end I was a litlle disapointed, the "Thing" was only reaching 59Kmh even with a BBK.

Re: Top speed NE50 (Aero in USA)

I'll try a new exhaust I recommend a tach when going with a bigger carb and tuned exhaust. That combo really releases the RPMs on a 2-stroke and when you start driving WOT at 11,000+RPM, you can dramatically shorten the life of your engine. High RPM ops also requires more oil to the engine than sto...

Re: Top speed NE50 (Aero in USA)

Greetings: The pipe will increase your top speed by the same percentage that it increases RPM. If it goes from 8K to 9K, your speed will improve 12 percent. Taller gears will do much more, at the cost of your quick take-off. Malossi 67-6458 if you can find them will give you 7.83:1 and put 100 KPH ...

Re: Top speed NE50 (Aero in USA)

Greetings: It sounds a bit slow, actually. Even without gears and a pipe, I'd expect a BBK on an AF05 engine to push past 70KPH. All else staying the same, a Pipe will raise your top speed by the same percentage it raises RPM. 8k to 9k = 12.5 percent. 60KPH x 12 percent = 65 KPH. Malossi 67-6458 ge...

Top speed NE50 (Aero in USA)

My recently repaired NE50 (BBK 46mm, bigger jet from Malossi) is cruising at 58Kmh and reaching 70Kmh downhill.
Is this a good performance for my configuration?
How much can I gain with a tuned exhaust? :coolcruise:
Apreciate your comments.
Kind regards.

Hello Rogerio and welcome to the board. Like your Vision very much. Cleanest looking example I've seen... :thumbwink: ...Me too, a fan of those abreviated side-panels. If you send me your mailing address (via PM), I would very much like to send you a pair of "hondaspree.net" stickers (FRE...

Re: Oil light blinking?

Here's a photo of the oil switch. It is normally open (when oil level is 'ok') and closes when the level is low. Brass spade contacts at the rear are molded into the body and extend to the other end to connect to springy copper contacts. A floating 'anchor' shaped contact bridges the fixed contacts...
