Re: AF05E Malossi 47 mm BBK installed

oem crankshaft 13000-GS7-010 is discontinued according to two Honda dealers. I got hopeful for a minute because it still showed up on Van Wall Powersports' website.

Re: AF05E Malossi 47 mm BBK installed

Good excuse to by a stroker crank?? Nah, I'm a little sorry that I didn't hold out for a stock cylinder at the beginning of this adventure, would rather be able to ride around with the engine pinned "all day" and not worry about it blowing up, heavier piston, probably higher engine speeds...

New? I'm probably going to stay away from used if I can help it. I've barely searched, seems that Athena might have a stock replacement crank, model names are confusing, I haven't dug deeper.

Is that a stock AF05 crankshaft? Bearing seized?
engine number: AF05E3303235 so yes?

Bearing's fine, at least not spun in case and spins okay.

Re: AF05E Malossi 47 mm BBK installed

Update. The fun and games lasted till 2014-01-14 (5272.4 odometer) when something let go in the bottom end. I procrastinated badly, err, prioritized with an endless list of other tasks that need my attention and $ but I finally split the cases today. http://i.imgur.com/1ajuEfX.jpg I'll start searchi...

On the oil pump.

If you don't get it without an explanation, you won't get it with one.

Re: AF05E Malossi 47 mm BBK installed

It's been over a year and about 800 mostly wide open throttle miles since I installed the BBK. I had my first problem recently, which turned out to be broken reed petal on the Malossi carbon fiber reed that was supplied with the BBK. 2013 07 12 2051 SA50 reed.jpg "Funny" that I held that p...

Re: AF05E Malossi 47 mm BBK installed

Switched to 32:1 Chevron 89 octane + Redline Two Stroke Race after two or three tanks of 50:1 mix. My first impression was that the idle was better, less responsive and powerful off the bottom and some surging at part throttle on deceleration but after a weekend of use I'm either used to it or it ju...

Re: What oil for break in?

I've used Redline 100% synthetic ester based lubricants as long as I can remember but not never with a fresh top end as the lubricant is so good that it interferes with the seating of the rings to the bore. I usually run through a tank of whatever petroleum two stroke oil that I have on hand before...

Re: AF05E Malossi 47 mm BBK installed

hey man any update? was your motor fine with no breaking in? did you wire your oil pump open or get rid of it? It's running great. I did actually break the top end in some, heat cycles, gradually harder and harder use but I did use it harder than intended sooner than intended. I removed the shaft f...

Re: AF05E Malossi 47 mm BBK installed

Survived severe durability testing today. Freeway was a mess so I rode the scooter on backroads to a meeting. 42.7 miles, much of it full throttle and uphill, highest speed according to GPS = 42.3 mph. I took it easy on downhills and maybe 6 times cut the ignition with the throttle closed and over 3...

Re: AF05E Malossi 47 mm BBK installed

Survived durability testing yesterday evening. I took the SA50 with me to work so that I could attend a nearby meeting without having to drive my 7000 pound work van. I unexpectedly spent 10-15 minutes climbing really steep residential streets. I tried to be as gentle as possible but near to full th...
