Re: 1984 Honda Spree Carb problem

http://hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=29421 Look at this post... it is likely a clogged pilot circuit. All my scoots that didn't run good well - came right back to life with a good carb cleaning. Get it home somehow, and you can fix this if you have the courage. All the information is...

1986 Spree - Kick

Where to start... my latest project. Orphan. http://images2.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv35943%3Enu%3D85%3C9%3E35%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3C545%3A36%3A347nu0mrj Many scoots under the old belt... but this has me struggling. Most just need some love - cleaned carb (properly), plug...

Re: Noob with an '85 Gyro

Hi Mike... Still around. I run hot and cold with hobbies. The gyro is just ridden at this point. Not much changed - just my $100 gyro.

Re: How to bleed/drain an oil line with a bubble in it

To purge oil from the line... I pull the pump and attach my cordless drill to the end of the pump shaft and run it till all air is purged. Done more than 6 times on many scoots. It take about 2 minutes on high.

Good luck my friend and stay thirsty.

Re: Gas pouring out of carb

Wheelie-Man... has pointed you in the right direction. The petcock on these scoots (the on / off fuel valve) is not turned with your hand... but instead it is turned on when the piston is moving. The moving of the piston sucks air down the intake side of the carb... which you will notice has a hose ...

Re: AF18e Engine Won't Idle

You can find knock-offs for the by-starter on fleabay. This bystarter circuit allows additional gas to flow during a cold start. The circuit gets blocked when the bystarter starts to receive current when the motor runs / stator. If you have effectively blocked the bystarter tube from the carb bowl.....

Re: AF18e Engine Won't Idle

Sound like your pilot jet is clogged.... this is typically the 1st orifice to be impeded - as it is the smallest. It is the small metal tube (copper looking) adjacent to the main jet. It has a common passage to the idle screw (hole in the tube at the intersection). If it is not clear you will have i...

Re: Gotta love Carbs!

I have bought more than few non-runners.... most of them just need a good carb cleaning. The original carb is solid and awesome.... Keihin. If you replace this with a cheap knock off... then you moved backwards in lieu of forward. I have never had to replace a Keihin... just need to clean them and m...

Re: Gotta love Carbs!

Its a drain screw... for the bowl. It has little impact on running condition of your scoot. You need to fix this first. Should be simple. Are you missing the o-ring on the drain screw? One item at a time... if the fuel is draining out the bottom of your carb, then fuel will not go up to the pilot an...

Re: Gotta love Carbs!

Yes the drain plug is not working. Fairly certain there is an o-ring on the drain screw. You may be missing this. If you are flowing gas out of the tube you indicated... it is not seating correctly so you dump. The petcock that allows fuel to flow to the carb will only work under vacuum (piston movi...

Petcock threads are 14 x 100mm

I once had an '85 Aero with a bad petcock... it is not typical as you know. I gave up and bypassed it - just me - worked out fine off the float in the carb bowl.

Best Regards.

Re: Honda Aero Will not start!

Compression + Spark + Gas = Fire

What was your compression reading?

When you put premix directly in the spark hole it won't sputter for a few seconds?

Re: New guy to the scooter world

Hey Black... if it runs consistent then you are good. You know the importance of the shourds now.... you are fine if you put them back on. You have an aftermarket carb and air filter. I would suspect that you someone may have put a larger piston / jug & possibly a pipe? If not maybe they just ga...
