Re: Anyone ever considered or heard of a hydraulic variator?

I would imagine that you would use a hydraulic or cable controlled variator similarly to a clutch, in that you would ride the desired rpm. The rider might have a best sense of torque rpm and hp rpm, and manually keep the engine in that rev range. The rider can use the downshift to engine break also....

Re: Anyone ever considered or heard of a hydraulic variator?

Wheelman, so glad you replied. I am familiar with the conical, chain belt drive, single teroidal, and dual teroidal cvt setups. In clarification, this post pertains to scooter applications only. As I know we aren't the first to dream up a non-roller cvt control. The hydraulic force for the throw out...

Detailed information on Gyro tilt mount

Cant find anything but pictures.

Does anyone know how it stays upright?

I only see the 1 shock, I dont see any dampners to control roll.

Is there a forum, or post about this?

Anyone ever considered or heard of a hydraulic variator?

This is absolutely theoretical, and I do not possess the machining and fabricating skills to do anything like this, but food for thought and good discussion. Has anyone considered, thought about, or heard of using a hydraulic actuator to control variator movement? I was thinking something like this:...

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

Baka, I looked into the oil cable, I believe we are good there. I have the oil pump zip tied wide open, and the cable rests behind the air filter, with plenty of room left at WOT. I have not been able to visually inspect the slide with the throttle cap NOT screwed down completely, so I am imagining ...

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

Unthreading the throttle cap did make a difference, I could not do a visual as I was at work, but I believe we are on to something. Achieved 37 wot . 40 downhill. Has a little better takeoff too. I will need to really look into this via visual inspection to see if it has made a major or minor differ...

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

Wheelman- thanks You are right about the washer, that probably is a big risk!. I will try the thread cap to see if I can make a difference, if it does, one other method, since there is no other alternative than replacement, would be to: 1) remove cap 2) remove cable form assembly 3) using my channel...

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

Also, would not threading the throttle cap ALL the way down do the same by introducing a gap or distance in how far up the slide can go? Not a permanent solution, but may be a good test. If it works, I could find a more permanent solution.

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

I have adjusted at the throttle cable, I have backed the thread channel all the way out, and locked down the nut, did not make that much of a difference. The next step will be to pull the slide from the carb, and see if perhaps the bezel that the cable bulb fits into is worn, making the bulb fit hig...

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

Looks like it may be the cause, there is a good 1/8 of travel left if in fact it is supposed to go completely flush. I am thinking of washer shimming the cable head within the slide if possible.

Wheelman or Baka have thoughts?

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

I will inspect this tonight when I get home from work. 1) What could cause the throttle to not be opening all the way, and if I find this to be the case, what do I do to fix it? 2) Could bad/aged reeds cause a lack of Higher RPM? I was cruising downhill yesterday and hit 40MPH and the engine did not...

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

I am running the stock airbox with the 88 jet.

I could do the draino de-carbonization if you think that would help. Would love an aftermarket exaust, but it is slim pickins and I cant find one anywhere

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

I have already installed the Malossi 65cc BBK I purchased from Red. 88 Jet. So what in the world am I doing wrong? Wheelman, Red came replied back to my PM and said that he only has the belt for the Elite S, which I have, and I told him that I have a Variated AF05, but he says perhaps the belt is on...

Re: AF05 slightly larger belt?

PM 'ing now. This d*** thing is starting to get annoying. Wheelman, I know you have been watching me struggle through this fiasco trying to get my cruising speed beyond 35mph. I am doing VERY good to 35mph WOT, keep thinking my weight (250lbs) is the problem. Now looking to go CT Manifold, 24mm Carb...
