Re: 1987 Spree Bogs at Full Throttle

I was asked to figure out a scooter drivability Issue on an two stroke 50cc 2011 Jonway, seems it would start easy, accelerate okay from a stop, but when accelerating over half throttle the engine would die, unless the throttle was released. ( sounds just like your Spree) Guess what ?? the air filte...

Re: 1987 Spree Bogs at Full Throttle

Fully stock air cleaner assembly in place ? ( no holes drilled) Filter correctly oiled and in place ? Stock air filter lid in place ? Air filter lid gasket in place ? Air filter lid screw in place ? Correct hose with clamps between carb and filter box ? The Spree is extremely sensitive and needs the...

Re: Gyro won't idle

On my 84 Gyro it would refuse to start unless I squirted oil in the spark plug hole, ran just fine until you shut it off, then needed the oil treatment again. An oversize piston and a little cylinder bore, it is back to perfect.
Hope yours is an easier fix.

Re: Mixing fuel scent into 2stroke oil

Klotz R-50 two stroke premix oil has a nice scent, I used that for ten years on my KX500. Everyone likes that smell, but I dont think Klotz reccomends it for oil injection, check thier website for thier reccomendations. I think Jegs or Summit sells gas scent additive, like root beer, strawberries an...

Re: I cant get my clutch apart and I bent the * out of it

I just spin the nut off with an pneumatic impact wrench it only pops apart a couple inches. When I am done doing whatever I am doing in there, I use my press to compress the cover enough to start the nut onto the threads. I usually glass bead any parts of the clutch that don't look like new, and gre...

Re: Ordering Parts Online?

For spark plugs, why not go to your local motorcycle shop ? Keep the money in your community. Some listings on Ebay include free shipping, I try to utilize that as much as possible. Babbitts online is where I order many Honda parts, I choose the in-store pick up option to avoid all shipping costs. W...

When I wanted my scooter to go faster, I was told to first buy a fast truck, and second to put scooter into back of truck.

Those bed covers can be removed and that seems like a simpler approach.

Re: Cleaning debris from crank case

An old trick that several two stroke mechanics do is, pour two stroke mix ( gas and oil ) into to crankcase, rotate the crankshaft to dsitribute the mix for cleaning , then two guys hold the bike upside down to drain, repeat until clean. I have met several guys who do this, I have done it with succe...

Re: Rusty dio wheels

I don't think you will be happy with the wire wheel results. I strongly suggest to sandblast them, that is the only way to get your primer or powder to adhere. If you sandblast them you have the option of prime/color/clear, or powdercoating. I usually sandblast them myself, frequently I am in too mu...

Re: 1986 gyro starter teeth number?

My 84 Gyro had ten teeth and I used a 1984 Spree 10 tooth armature. The 86 Spree uses 11 teeth, but I don't own a 86 Gyro and I don't have the answer to your question.

Re: Stripped mounting bolt

Turn and turn but it doesn't come out ? Put a wrench on the nut on the other end of the bolt.
Turn and turn but it wont tighten ? Post a pic of the threads, could need a heli coil insert.

Re: Honda elite 50S 1987 need help to run

Everyone will have their own opinion, but I have done this many times. Using the factory wire diagram, I would wire up the starter solenoid first ( then the engine will crank over) AKA rotate with the starter. I would wire up the cdi to the igniter, pulser and ignition coils. ( then it will have spa...
