Re: Randomly losing power, goes only 10 mph then randomly no
Greetings: Hmm, could be a lot of things. Tackle them in the order of Easiest-to-Do first. 1. Have a look in the fuel tank. Use a flashlight. Better not a match... 2. Buy a new spark plug. Check compression while it's off, then Install new plug. 3. Open the airbox and check for chunks-o'-foam flaki...

Randomly losing power, goes only 10 mph then randomly normal
Hey fellas, I'm back with a new issue I have been tinkering with my 2001 honda elite 50sa randomly losing full power of the motor. I will be full throttle and it will get stuck around 10-15 mph. I usually listen to the motor as it progresses up speeds, but when this happens, it does not make the acc...

Re: Brand New $499
I was just in the market for a scooter the past 4 months, same boat as you. Seeing the quality of both kinds, (keep in mind this being from a extreme novices perspective, the only other motor I have touched was a goped/ or putting oil and gas in my old car). The difference is huge, that is in terms o...

Re: 2001 honda elite 50 sr throttle revs before acceleration
I know this is off topic but what'd you have to do to fix the electric start? just kind of curious :D And yea 1800 +/- is stock specs. Its in the manual in the carb section. Also gives you belt measurements so you can measure to see if its too worn and whether or not you need a new one. I was check...

Re: 2001 honda elite 50 sr throttle revs before acceleration
I knew you get get the lost SR back on the road. Nice work... sounds like you might need a new belt. There is a slight stall to engage the clutch on the trans... but it should not be clunky. Thanks to all your great advice :D was a blast to ride too, I didn't expect the pickup this thing has. It ha...

Great info! tyvm, I learn something new about these scoots everyday.bakaracer wrote:1800+/- 100 rpm is stock spec. if you raise it more than that. after coming off a run to a stop the engine will idle a bit to high on a stock carb.

Re: 2001 honda elite 50 sr throttle revs before acceleration
running like new. is good. Tell me about it, I replaced a few things, but with 6k on the engine I was expecting it to run a bit rougher, this thing was taking steep hill like a breeze! it is quiet, feels great while idling , not sure how this came about. Just a few days ago I was putting it up on C...

Re: 2001 honda elite 50 sr throttle revs before acceleration
if it does a quick rev and then the clutch engages, thats normal. there is a slight stall on the clutch . so if the bike is at idle at around 1800+/- 100 rpm. the clutch will engage at around 3800rpm. That sounds about right, with the idling, could this be adjusted with the idle on the carb? It sou...

2001 honda elite 50 sr throttle revs before acceleration
Thanks to all you guys on the forum, I have a incredible running scoot, now that it is running, and took it out for about 20 miles or so, I notice a problem I have had from the start. The best way to describe it would be a car with a problematic first gear. On take off it revs a bit, and then what f...

Re: 2001 honda elite 50 sr starting problem, (video)
you really can't check compression with your finger. It takes very little pressure to move your finger off the hole. The only way to be truly sure of enough compression is to use a compression gauge. I hear most auto parts store's have a loaner program were you leave a deposit and borrow the tool. ...

Re: 2001 honda elite 50 sr starting problem, (video)
yes you can use the kick start for all these tests just makes it a little trickier, when checking compression your finger must be firmly sealing the plug hole, if the air is not strong enough to push ur finger off the hole and escape past, your motor probably wont have enough compression to run yes...

Re: 2001 honda elite 50 sr starting problem, (video)
Hello... 1) Verify spark by grounding the plug outside the case to use a length of wire and wrap around the spark plug threads and bolt to frame for ground - then tap the starter. 2) Put a jump box on the battery terminals (or jumper cables)... so it turns hard - or fully charge your battery. 3) Bu...
