Drilling out exhaust on the side attached to engine
Does anyone know what size drill bit to use to drill out the head of the exhaust pipe? Are there any suggestions of how to do it? How much faster will it go if I do this?

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
Well, turns out it was the lean mixture and too much air that was the problem. I started it up, took the air filter and air box cover off, and while booting it, I put my fingers in front of where the air was being drawn in and the engine started to climb and run well. Of course, I cannot keep my fin...

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
Yeah I took the line off of the intake manifold and it did not bubble.
Is there anything else I could try while the air filter and bystarter are being ordered? Is there anyway I go around the bystarter to get it running well?

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
Half a year ago I got it red hot with a propane torch (with it off, of course) and it did not make a difference. I may try to clean it out chemically

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
The top speed was probably 20 but the throttle was not completely open
Yeah I will order the bystarter and I definitely need a new air filter. Is there anyway I can bypass the bystarter for now while it is warmed up?

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
Yeah, I ride it on a private road so I don't care about registration or how legal it may be. Thank you for the link. I drilled holes in it a year ago and it did not make a difference so I clamped them shut. I will have to try cleaning it.

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
So if I put the OEM air filter in (I have one in okay condition) it will solve the problem?

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
It probably is lean because it is light brown. If I put a new air filter in it would it solve that? Would I have to adjust the carburetor?
Is the only way the bystarter can fail is with it open?

It's not too discolored. It was wet when I took it out. I have replaced the plug one time when I first got it running.

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
It starts right up so I'm not sure about the bystarter. Maybe it's stuck closed.

Re: 1994 honda elite SA50P Bogging down when throttle applie
I don't even think I have a filter on it now (I probably should). Is there anyway to check and/or fix the bystarter? I'm assuming that is the auto choke. I think it has an autolight plug in it now and it would be cheap enough to put an NGK in it. I wish I had a compression tester. How much do those ...
