Re: Spree 48mm BBK JET

I use the stock carb and jet that Taz sent with the kit. I think the jet is a 87. I drilled three 3/8" holes in the air box lid but I think the instructions call for 4, 1/2" holes. I idle great with my carb set a little rich at 1 1/2 turns out

Re: tuning and break-in problems on 48mm bbk on 85 spree

Are you sure the compression is 50 PSI. That is too low and should not run

Re: Spree big bore kit install questions.

do you know how big and where to drill the hole? I did install the new jet and I was just about to drill a couple of holes in the air box lid. I was going to start small and do a few plug chops. I did put a little oil in the tank to keep it rich. The performance is night and day but I would like it ...

Re: Spree big bore kit install questions.

Did you clean your air filter too? I was Thought this would be a "quick fix". My spree ran pretty good before the BBK but then I got a little ambitious and did too much without creating a baseline. I also have a little trouble finding a BP6HS in my area so I have been cleaning my current p...

Spree big bore kit install questions.

I just installed the 48 mm big bore kit but it did not come with instructions so I found some help full points on here. I have been heat cycling it all day and went to take it for a spin and I could not get the rpm's up. I don't have a tach but I could barely get it past ten MPH. while I was install...

Port and polish or BBK?

I have a '87 spree that's in rough shape. I think its time for a rebuild and I'm not sure if I should buy the stock cylinder and port, polish and shave down the head or just get the big bore kit. I don't want to spend too much and I haven't heard back from tazland about a stage 3 kit. I read on here...

Re: Spree won't start

I got it running. when I put on the new carb there wasn't a rubber o ring under the cap assembly so I must have had a air leak. I also put in a new spark plug. Now its time to buy the bbk.

Re: Spree won't start

Ok, I checked and cleaned the reed valve and it seems ok, I may order one in the future. After putting on the old carb and and trying to start, I found that I now have no spark. I'm going to clean the points and check the coil.

Spree won't start

I purchased a 87 nq50 Spree of craigslist and have only been able to get it running for about 30 seconds. I have read the posts about cleaning the carb and the float pin seat and have had minimal luck. I purchased a new aftermarket carb off ebay and I cant get it to run at all. the new carb has anot...
