Hello all the way from the Philippines! :peace: It's been a while since my last post here. I'm coming back to showcase my latest scooter buy. https://i.postimg.cc/rFZ40H2C/IMG-8049.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/XYvyyLQ9/collage.jpg I found this listed on Facebook Marketplace by a young mother. It's at le...

Re: Honda Dio Engine - Fuel Gets Cut Off While Running 50kph
Ride it with the cap loosened. If it runs better it's the cap. @curtis966 - why are you TRYING to sell me all YOUR kind of stuff when graphite9 already said i can fix my problem by correcting a "possibly" erratic GAS CAP. JUST a "GAS CAP". sir. Anyway I have drilled the gas cap....

Tested it without the gas tank cap. The problem didn't show up. Will drill a hole tomorrow then make another run.

Re: Honda Dio Engine - Fuel Gets Cut Off While Running 50kph
The AF18e came from a Dio and Dios have their tanks in floorboards. And no, Dios don't have vacuum nipples in the manifold. And yes this engine is all stock down to bore. graphite9's idea of clipping the hose to hold the vacuum applied then make a test run already crossed my mind. That means clippin...

Re: Honda Dio Engine - Fuel Gets Cut Off While Running 50kph
that petcock needs constant vacuum. Thats what holds it open. The crankcase cycles from positive pressure, to negative. Thats causing that diaphram to open-close-open-close-open-close. Ok. So maybe this is where i got it all wrong. I used the vacuum nipple in the crankcase. Is this why I dont get e...

Re: Honda Dio Engine - Fuel Gets Cut Off While Running 50kph
Thanks everyone. @patthesoundguy - of course the cap vent is to let air in and gas down, everyone knows that sir. i mean am i gonna loose gas through the hole if i am gonna drill a small one through? you loose gasoline through evaporation right? @Dakine - i used the vacuum nipple just below the star...

Re: Honda Dio Engine - Fuel Gets Cut Off While Running 50kph
Thanks everyone.
I already removed the strainer completely when i replaced the petcock, though it was not that filthy when i took it off. Good point on the float and gas tank cap.
Can I just drill a small hole in the center of the gas cap? Isn't it gonna vent gas out?
Thanks again!

Honda Dio Engine - Fuel Gets Cut Off While Running 50kph
Hi. I have a Honda Vision50 and replaced the Engine with a AF18E engine. It runs great but the problem is that fuel seems to get cut off after running the highway at 50kph for about 5 mins. I use transparent hose for the fuel supply so I can clearly see no more gas flowing after several minutes of r...

Re: AF18e Engine Won't Idle
Turns out, the problem is electrical. When I changed the engine from AF05e to AF18e, I had to relocate the ignition coil from its original location to a location where the supply wire has to be folded and I didn't notice part of the coil body is rubbing with the supply wires. I rewired the coil so i...

Re: AF18e Engine Won't Idle
Hi again everyone. I have replaced the carb and now it idles good. But another problem comes up. This time the engine will not rev constantly. It seems to want to die when revved and several times the pipe would make an exploding noise. What could cause the pipe to make loud exploding noise? I repla...

Re: AF18e Engine Won't Idle
So reopened the carb and made sure to see light through all the passages specially the pilot hole. Still no good idle. I suspect its really the bad compression(???)

Re: AF18e Engine Won't Idle
Thank you for all the inputs. @Wheelman sir, I have both sides of the shrouds. I just bought the engine from a friend a few weeks back to replace the AF05e engine on that Aero/Vision. Haven't actually gone for a long spin. So low compression could cause it not to idle properly? I need something to s...

Re: AF18e Engine Won't Idle
Sound like your pilot jet is clogged.... this is typically the 1st orifice to be impeded - as it is the smallest. It is the small metal tube (copper looking) adjacent to the main jet. It has a common passage to the idle screw (hole in the tube at the intersection). If it is not clear you will have ...
