What cylinder kit do you plan on running? Your port job is looking top notch very clean ct. But like Pauly said make sure you smooth out that little triangle will cause a lot of blockage for air and fuel movement. top left in your first pic and bottom right in your second pic .where the base gasket sits the looking down into the cases the port windows have sharp corners stator side is open intake side is half blocked. Got it,thanks, im going to match all when i get the cylinder kit and started to work on it....

I am also a KX500 rider, and the race guys stuff the crankcase ( to reduce volume) with Devcon. Apparently it moves peak torque up the RPM scale. They surround the crank area and machine it out, I forgot what clearance they use, but it's only a few thousandths to allow for expansion and vibration. ...
