Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
I've been working on a direct drive system to get rid of the CVT. CVT systems and V-belts in general have a very high amount of frictional losses. I wanted t keep the clutch system so I found some sprockets that work here. I am just about done with this setup and will post up a "How to" af...

Re: Scooterswapshop DYNO thread Yasuni C16 pipe~
I did some measuring and think I have a good idea how to make this work and still use the clutch. I have some sprockets and belt on the way from Gates to see if I can mock this up. I need an extra complete clutch unit if someone has one to donate for research... spoke with rich @HGT today. This is w...

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
Well, I have been extremely busy with work and have not touched the scooter in many moons. Yesterday morning I dug in to it as the last time I ran it as with the neato Polini carb and intake and it was slower than the previous setup, so I took it off at that time. As soon as I put the old carb/intak...

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
Well, Bonneville is currently a lake. This means the SCTA cancelled World Finals. GRRRR! I will still play with some things I want to do on the scooter this week to see what I can get out of it. Then I have until next year to rip into it and try to make more power. That means - I am looking for anot...

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
Talking about the alternator load, I had planned to whittle on the cooling fan a bit to remove some drag

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
Don, you are right about reducing the aerodynamic footprint. If I make any more changes to the frame, it will require that I just make a new frame from scratch as I can barely get my body any smaller to fit and maintain control. Fortunately, my dad will be doing some of the riding and he is about 5'...

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
I added 1.8 inches to the primary section of the pipe and took another .010 off the head. Went to my same country road for testing today First run put on malossi pipe and ran a steady 49 and peak 49.5 Second run put my pipe on and it ran a steady 53 with peak at 54 Third run swapped to a piston slig...

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
After fiddling with the 24mm carb for awhile, I relented and dropped to a 21mm and it is much more responsive. Found a nearby country road and ran through a number of jets after getting the slow jet dialed in. It seems to like a 90 or 95 jet without any real difference in speed. Going to 85 jet saw ...

Re: Complicated kx65 v force install if you're dumb.
I just put the KX65 vforce reeds in my ct intake. No probs at all. About 3 minutes filing the vfoce holes to offset them just a touch. Otherwise fit great.
11,000rpm with the homemade pipe and vforce reeds!

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
I spent Saturday building a pipe to the specs from 2 Stroke Wizard exhaust calculator. Knowing this will be a race only pipe, there is no muffler on it, and d*** is it loud! At the same time as this change, I also installed a set of V-force reeds. As I mentioned previously, the Malossi pipe petered ...

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
Killing time before the next event (World Finals) at Bonneville at the end of September and looking for more power. A couple of things have me scratching my head. 1) Engine does not want to turn over 9000rpm. My thoughts are the port configuration and pipe are the limiting factors here. which leads ...

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
A few notes: Rules required I have a way to shut off the fuel supply without removing hands from handlebars. The best options I could come up with were to either use a choke cable to push a fuel petcock closed or use a solenoid. I used a nitrous fuel solenoid and rewired the high/low headlight dimme...

Re: Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
Got everything squared away working til midnight last night and Speedweek got flooded and was officially cancelled this morning. Bummer
At least now I have time for some proper tuning. So far it seems to like 50/125 jetting.
