Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Took it apart. And yes, gaskets are shot. Oily/watery fluid was in crank. Is this sufficient to dry out or pull engine in halfs? Piston & rings look ok.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Popped muffler off, exhaust port dripping. Fml, still flooded...I'm going to have to tear down this whole engine. Great.

Tried a couple different plugs, gaps ok, great spark. Air filter on, off. Hand over inlet, 1 3/4 & 1/14 turns out. I got a small sputter. Plug still wet when I check it. But it still has a spark. Really dark/black oil on plug..... not looking good.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
So I need to recheck my compression test, why? Because I might have a worn cylinder. Somebody else had same issue with starting. Everything else was fine but a slightly worn cylinder. It took a good number of starts to build up to that psi. It should get to at least 90psi in a second or two. Does th...

Reed looks good, flaps open & close good. Now I need a new gasket or make one.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Has been sitting for a few days to dry out, going to tip it over to see if any residual oil drips out from jug. Then I'll put it back together & try to start it. Reeds looked good from the top. Couldnt really get it out to see the bottom/stoppers, should that be a definite thing to check?

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Double checked to see if I have spark, nice strong blue sparks!! Put on the vacuum line, filled carb bowl & tried to go. Nope. If I listen closely i can hear a liquid in the crank. So looks like I'm diving deeper & taking more apart. I could tip the bike but have to remove oil & gas tank...
