I think the moral is don't part them out.
They are rare little gems that deserve to live.

Re: Whats a good website for buying parts for other scooters
Yeah I am almost strictly interested in used parts. I live in a college town overrun by needy indigent scooters needing help getting back on their feet. I buy them by the handful, fix them up, then charge a small adoption fee to find them a new home. Used parts are really the best way to keep costs ...

Whats a good website for buying parts for other scooters?
This site is great for elite/spree/aero stuff. Moped Army is the spot for moped stuff. Total ruckus is the spot for GET crap. Treatland and scrappydog are good spots for new stuff. Scoot.net has your Vespa needs. Is there a good website/forum where there is a lot of activity of people buying/selling...

Re: Ruckus motor into a spree?
Well I think it would be almost impossible unless you had a complete machine shop and some welding skills at your disposal. Plus the Dio engines crap HP better than the GETs are capable of. If you really want to do it then give it a shot, but don't be surprised when a stock 1987 Jog or Aero destroy ...

Anyone try this bad boy? http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt219/MasterTate/tecnomoto-DIO-variator-plate-2_zps52378c87.jpg I have had good experiences with Polini parts and variators in moped world and Jog world but I have never owned any Polini stuff for Hondas. Malossi I have found to make good c...

Re: 2t oil seepage
Haha. Sure did wheelman. On the pre-mod test drive I left a smoke screen for a solid 2 miles. Man you should see this Spree I picked up. When I bought it I thought it was seized because it wouldn't turn over. Turns out the reason it wouldn't turn over is because the engine, cylinder and case, were ...

Re: Variator options for Elites, please post reviews if you
Good to know. I am not worried about the weights, I have more variator weights than I can use in a lifetime. What about Kymco ZX50 variators? I have access to several scrap ZX50s so if those are better than the GET variators I will use them. Maybe I should just get a ZX50 variator, an old GET variat...

Variator options for Elites, please post reviews if you can
I picked up this 2001 Elite SR the other day. I purchased it with the goal of flipping it but the plastics are bad enough and the engine is good enough that I am leaning towards keeping it. I have owned A LOT of SA50s and I have to say this one is the easiest starting smoothest running one I have ev...

Why is shipping so expensive?
I order crap from China all the time and shipping is absurdly low. Like a dollar or two. Same thing with Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.
Is Taiwan that much more expensive shipping wise?

Re: Picked up an 1987 Spree this weekend
I think the 87 Spree shares some bits with the 87 Elite R SE50 which is an AWESOME bike if you can find a non restricted one. I think they were replacing the Spree with the SB50. It does seem kind of foolish to redesign a bike that much then only sell it for a year. I can't image anyone going in to ...

Re: Spree was stolen the other day
That bike is way to distinctive to stay stolen for long. I feel for you man. Its obvious you spent some time on her. Post the pictures and a $50 reward on CL. Works all the time. Its never the thief who returns it, its always a guy who, "found it by the dumpsters" or, "traded it for a...

Just scooped another Spree, AF05e swap or part out...
So I just picked up another Spree. Its a 1986 but the kicker is jammed, go figure. I haven't even pulled the kicker cover yet but I am guessing its that helical cut gear thats chewed up as they often are. Is there a substitute for those? You can't buy them from Honda anymore and they wear out ofteni...

Re: new spree seat cover
I gotta do this too. Just picked up a spree with a roached seat cover.
All I have is a manual staple gun though and as previously mentioned it is waaaaayyy more difficult without a pneumatic stapler.
Looks good.
Where do you order it? How much?
