I broke a crankcase bolt and it flew threw the stator, so I ordered a new one. Should be here tomorrow, then I'll see if it'll start.

I cleaned the head with a wire brush and am using a sharpening stone to smooth the gasket surface. According to Taz the head does not have to be modified.

Greetings: The bad bearing showered its debris on the other bearing for sure, both need to go. The big-end of the crank isn't as exposed, but I'd be sure to clean the snot out of that one, and then maybe do some measuring (Service Manual) to make sure you're not bolting that shiny 48 up to a bad cr...
