if you want hold the crank from moving, take out spark plug and fill the cylinder with clothes line, then turn the crank until the piston is held tight against the rope and cylinder head, when done pull the rope out. learned this when removing clutches from snowmobile a long time ago in a land far f...

another way to make a gasket is use the peen end of a ball peen hammer, buy the gasket material, lay it over the cover and peen lightly around the edges and you have a gasket

run wire from pos of battery to the yellow wire at one of several connectors, behind head lite, at the rectifier, or at the connector down by the starter. if light comes on, then you have a stator or rectifer problem, mine was a rectifer problem.

careful using a ditch or small hill, there still is a gap and you will want to use a board or plank to fill it, and end up on funniest home videos

go to northern tool and order one of their ramp frames, about $75, it folds up for storage, you add the plywood to what ever width you want.

remove head light and hook it directly to the battery, green wire to ground battery post and either blue or white wire to positive, if light comes on, you then have a different problem. just fixed mine so its fresh in my mine, two power wires go to the bulb, one blue and one white for hi and low beam, a green ground wire should attach to the outer case of the light socket. the other ends of the three wires connect into clear plastic connectors with the same color of wire attached.

when my 85 spree was doing that, the tube from the air filter box was not secured to the carb. ended up using a worm gear type hose clamp on it.

IT WAS THE RECTIFIER, replaced it with one off ebay for $10 that was "tested good", now I have front light and when I put my volt meter on my battery the volts go up as I rev it, so its charging. project now complete. thanks to all for your help. now I want to buy another to restore to wor...

installed the donor stator and no lights, looks like it has a dead short, hooked volt meter between the yellow wire coming off stator and bat positive and have 12 volts, so its grounded, same with white and blk/red wire, so back to the drawing board. got my replacement rectifier in the mail, going t...

thanks for all your help, got the stator off my donor, have a gear puller, so no problem with fly wheel, going to install it tomorrow, big rain storm coming in. I find these scooters a joy to work on, real easy.

ok, put ohm meter on it, set the meter to 200 ohm scale(smallest) and I get 1.0 for both white and yellow wire, then I go and test my donor spree and yellow wire says 22 and the white says 30. am I reading it correctly scale wise? do the readings show my donor is good?
