Re: Tillotson jetless carbs
I had a '74 ski doo 340 twin snowmobile, with one tillitson on it, that was reed less and the intake was right in the middle of the cylinders, pretty interesting. That carb was excellent, easy to tune.

Re: Dio variator in af16 elite issues
Did you change the small clutch springs? Maybe it's engaging at too low of an RPM.

Re: 1996 Elite S Max speed without BBK
Just my 2 cents, I have not used the dr pulley sliders, but if I could go back to when I started my mods, the very first thing I would do is buy a good complete set of roller weights. I bought one package thinking a it's all id need, and didn't want to spend the measly $25 or so on a whole set, but ...

Re: Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
It's running hot it sure seems like, it may have carbon deposit on the plug, but I'm certain it's the new oil. With the yamalube it ran the same way but plug was almost white, not the brown you'd like to see. I've jetted plenty of things before, and it's just odd. It seems like a weird leak making i...

Re: Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
That's what it seems like, and that's the signs it's showing, but except for the black oily carbon build up on the plug, it's running lean. It's not showing signs of being rich at all, that's why I'm stumped, and believe it's an air leak around the oil seals or something.

Re: Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
I should note, the scooter runs like a top when it's cold, great power low, mid, and too end for about the first 2-3 minutes, and then slowly looses a little power after it warms up. It still has power when it's warm, but it's a noticeable power loss.

Re: Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
Nope, the power lost is throughout the whole range. My pilot is only a 36, so pretty small, I could try a little bit bigger one, but it's not that? It just seems lean across the board, I don't believe it's rich. I think it's black from this new crappy bel ray oil I'm using.

Re: Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
Pump deleted, mixing 32:1, it still does look rich, parts of the plug look a touch white where it isn't black, there is no chocolatey brown color or wetness to it from being too rich. I believe I have an air leak somewhere, but can't find where. That's why I was thinking the oil deal is potentially ...

Re: Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
Here's a current picture of the plug, pretty black. I've been using a quart of bel ray sl2 oil, I don't like it. I prefer the yamalube, but couldn't get it.

Re: Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
No splitting of the case necessary for the crank seal on the variator side? And I've been checking the plug, it's not too lean with the 110, it was worst when I had a 106 in. But something's off, it's not the jetting.

Re: Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
I haven't checked compression, nor do I know a temperature due to getting a bad temp gauge, and the copper sensor was an oval and allowed the bike to leak between the head and spark plug, so I quit using it. It's a 24mm Polini.

Losses some power when hot, possible leak?
I've got a 2000 elite, I installed a Malossi cast kit on it, Naraku intake, and Polini carb. Scooter runs excellent, but once it gets warmed up it looses some power, doesn't have the grunt like it does when it's cold. Jetting is fairly on, but kind of lean, and I have a 110 main in. All the gaskets ...

Re: How much oil do you run?
The most common is probably 32:1, which is 4oz. per gallon. Some guys may run 40:1, but 32:1 never hurts.

Re: '00 Elite SR Build
I only dreamed about a purple sr, then one popped up in craigslist for cheap with 600 miles and I grabbed it that day. It's mint, not a scratch on it.

Re: '00 Elite SR Build
I've got about 300 miles on the Malossi kit now, fun little scooter with the 9.8 gears in it, rips from a dead stop, does wheelies everytime I crack the throttle. With the gears I only get about 57ish mph for a top speed on flat ground, which is all I need. I think i have a slight air leak somewhere...
