Re: The Fleet

I guess a good number would be 10, definitely at least 7 so I could drive a different one each day of the week.. seems like the batteries stay charged on their own if driven once a week.. all have kick starters just in case, except the Gyro. The cold start is not yet perfect on the Gyro either. If i...

Re: The Fleet

There was a nice Tact 50 for sale near me last month, but unfortunately, it didn't have a title.. That is a big deal here in Florida.. many ads say a bill of sale is good enough, but it doesn't seem to be true here.. Other than a Tact 50, I'm not sure what I should add to the fleet. I'd love to get ...

Re: 1984 Aero 50 - where is the 7A fuse?

It is riight on the main red (+) wire near the battery. Start by downloading the workshop manual at: http://www.motorscooterguide.net/Manuals/Honda_NB50_1983_Service_Manual.pdf The fuse is shown in a sketch called "performance test" on page 14.5 and the schematic is at the bottom the secti...

Re: 2000 Elite S Autopsy

The first test drive after installing the new main bearings and derestricting the variator went pretty well. Since the P.O. also just installed a new cylinder and piston, I decided I'd better take it easy for a hundred miles or so before using WOT on a continual basis. It seems to me that the piston...

Re: 84 Spree original mirrors

I haven't owned my 1986 Spree since it was new, but I do believe the mirrors are original. Hopefully, someone else on this forum can confirm these are original and that the 1984 and 1986 Spree mirrors are the same. I do think if you order new ones from Honda, they will look the same with the excepti...

Re: Another oil pump ratio post. SE50, SA50, SA50P

Thanks for the quick reply.. I'll go with the SR pump.. pretty expensive upgrade.. going to have twice in the Elite than it is worth when all done, but it at least saves it from the junkyard..

Re: Another oil pump ratio post. SE50, SA50, SA50P

I am repairing a 2000 Elite S that blew up while running a desrictricted exhaust and airbox, but with no changes to the oil pump which was not wired open. The left main crank bearing got trashed as well as the piston and cylinder. I ordered an SR dual throttle cable and was going to use the original...

Re: 85 Spree Rattle

I have limited knowledge, but I just took apart an Elite 50 that ran with a bad rattle. The left main bearing on the crankshaft was missing a few of the balls, and the ball cage was melted. If you take out the sparkplug and rotate the engine by hand by turning the fan, you shouldn't feel any "n...

Re: 2000 Elite S Autopsy

If I am looking them up right, they seem to have differeny part numbers? I also found this post:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=31898&hilit=elite+sr+oil+pump

If it is true that the part numbers are different, does anyone know the physical difference between the two?

2000 Elite S Autopsy

I started work on my new 2000 Elite S yesterday. When I bought it, the last to work on it said he put on a new top end kit and that it runs, but it sounds like it has bad main bearings. Before tearing into it, I decided to start it and see if that made any sense. When I first turned it over, it woul...

Re: 1987 NQ50 Running Issues

Swapping carbs with no change is pretty convincing evidence that the problem is not in the carb idle circuit so forget my suggestion about it.. the CDI box is easy to switch between your two Sprees as well.. a bad CDI seems unlikely, but they are so easy to change, you should do that. Also do a comp...

Re: 1987 NQ50 Running Issues

I think if your idle circuit is blocked, you can make the engine idle by screwing in the idle speed screw far enough to lift the carb slide high enough so that the engine idles (pretty roughly) on the main jet instead of the idle circuit... not sure about that though. With the engine turned off, and...
