Re: 1985 Honda Gyro stalls/Carb issue/ Tank dipping
As always, thanks Motormike. Been watching a lot of videos using vinegar to clean out the tank. Saw a nice article on POR15, and another post that said what you said-- Stay away from Kreem. I'll look at Caswell's when I have a chance. I appreciate the help.

1985 Honda Gyro stalls/Carb issue/ Tank dipping
Hi folks, I put a new battery in my Gyro and it purred for a full day. Now, the bike starts, then seems to use up all the fuel in the carb, then stalls. If i give it any gas, it stalls out. My gut says the two are unrelated but I had to mention it anyway.. If I had to guess, I'd say something broke ...

1985 Honda Gyro Starter location and removal
Hi Folks, My Gyro won't start unless I bang on the bottom of the case, and even then it doesn't always work. In my experience with cars, that is a starter issue. I don't have any documentation. Can someone send me pics or tell me where the starter is and how to remove it, where the starter relay/sol...

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro won't crank
Thanks, Motormike. I understand. That was going to be my first part of the inspection-- the physical layer. I just haven't done my research yet as to whether there's a circuit/fuse or something else between the starter button and the starter that would cause this. Treating it like a car: turn key, h...

1985 Honda Gyro won't crank
Hi Folks, Machine was running fine until the other day. I hit the starter button and hear a "click" but the starter will not turn. I tested the battery at 12.x volts. Was looking for some quick advice before I start digging in. And yes, I was squeezing the brake in order to engage the star...

Re: 1986 Honda Gyro Fuel Valve/Petcock issues
Folks, thanks for chiming in. I guess my question is, "Any ideas where to buy a new petcock that would be an exact match?" I don't want to modify the bodywork on the Gyro, as I feel that will take away value.

1986 Honda Gyro Fuel Valve/Petcock issues
Hi folks, It's been a while. I finally put a new carb/bystarter on my Gyro and it fired right up. I will need to adjust the idle downward. When I started the scoot, I forgot to turn on the fuel valve, but it still ran. It seems that, regardless of the position of the valve (on, off, reserve), this t...

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro Mixture and Idle screw adjustment
Try this. Who knows if the carb will match up, but I'll be the guinea pig.

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro Mixture and Idle screw adjustment
I tried covering the air intake and the Gyro didn't start at all. Not sure what that means. I tested the bystarter again, and I suspect from all the youtube videos that my bystarter is bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PXd0pootTQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVLHaVPf7SI Then again, I thought ...

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro Mixture and Idle screw adjustment
I'll try covering the air intake tomorrow. Gyroman, what are your screw settings? Are you using the 2-1/4 for the air screw? What's your idle screw set to?

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro Mixture and Idle screw adjustment
Ok, so I keep playing with this Gyro. Went outside, started the engine, it ran fine for 30 seconds, and now it won't run EXCEPT with starting fluid/ether. It simply won't start after those 30 seconds of running. It will only burn ether. I pulled off the fuel line end which goes in to the carb and ga...

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro Mixture and Idle screw adjustment
Thanks for the response. There is a significant amount of silicone where the carb enters the airbox, and the gasket around the bystarter is pretty beat up. Probably not the most efficient system. I was able to get it started again by cleaning out the gas tank. As mentioned earlier, I was able to get...

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro Mixture and Idle screw adjustment
OK, bystarter tested fine. I cleaned the jet under the bystarter. There was definitely some residue in there as the jet hole is much bigger now (relatively speaking). Machine fired up, though the throttle screw did not adjust things as well as hoped regarding turning up or down the idle. There was s...
