1999 Kinetic Moped manual needed
Hello, I just scored a 1999 Kinetic Moped (TFR, maybe?) from a neighbor's garage. It has been sitting for 22 years and needs some help. I am looking for a manual and a good source of parts-- 3 out of 4 turn signal stalks are broken. I cleaned the carb and air filter, flushed the gas tank, and cleane...

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro starter issues
Thanks, Btosi. Would not have thought about "Ace is the place" for brushes. I called a couple local small engine shops but no one answered the phone. We're locked down pretty tight in Maryland... not to mention it's Good Friday. It doesn't feel like a good friday, but I'm sitting at home d...

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro starter issues
Yep, I understand where the brushes go. I took a better pic and actually looked at it sober-- too much Coors Light when i wrote my original post. As you can see from these new pics, the ground brush is attached, but the positive brush (if that's what I should call it) is missing. So unless I solder ...

Re: 1985 Honda Gyro starter issues
Thanks, Harleyracer59. That wire is the big mystery. I understand the one screwed to the frame is for ground and it's in good shape. At least that one is where it should be. There is an o-ring on the shaft of the starter near where it engages the flywheel. Seems to be in good shape. No oil comes out...

1985 Honda Gyro starter issues
Hello folks, I hope everyone is healthy and safe during these scary times. One of the positives of this lockdown (in the Washington, DC area) is that I can address my starter issues on my 1985 Honda Gyro. I pulled the starter off the scoot and took it apart. No wonder it didn't spin. It was complete...

Re: Where to buy-- Starter 1985 Honda Gyro
Thanks, man. That is good info. I was hoping for a quick $25 replacement so I could rebuild my starter at my leisure. No, your answer is not too technical for me. I just wish I had more time to do anything. Scootin' ain't easy sometimes. I greatly appreciate the guidance. I'll pull the starter when ...

New Headlight/Cluster needed for 1982 Honda MB5
Hello, Just wondering if anyone has replaced both the headlight and instrument cluster on a 1982 Honda MB5 with non-standard options that will still mate up fairly easily. My tach kept blowing tach cables so I stopped using one. Last week, my speedo cable crapped out, but not before the speedo needl...

Where to buy-- Starter 1985 Honda Gyro
Hello, I'm looking for a good place to buy a starter for a Honda Gyro, 1985 model. I think mine is bad. My scoot no longer cranks. I get a click (with a fresh battery) but the starter doesn't turn. It used to spin freely (almost like a turbine winding up). I would push the starter button and I would...

Re: Replacement Headlight Unit for MB5
Not sure why I'm not getting notifications about replies. I'll have to check my settings. Thus far, I have not blown the new bulb. We'll see what happens. I did a fair amount of research, and a number of sites said that a dead battery can cause this issue. I went to battery warehouse, spent $35 on a ...

1985 Honda Gyro Petcock
Hi folks, I have developed a pretty decent leak from my 1985 Honda Gyro petcock. I would like to replace it (preferred) or rebuild it with a direct match, so I can continue to keep the scoot as stock as possible. I can't find one for sale. Just wondering if anyone has a viable solution. Thank you. R...

Replacement Headlight Unit for MB5
Hi folks, Looking to replace my headlight unit on my 1982 Honda MB5. I have been blowing headlights about twice a year. I would like to move to an LED light or light bar. Just wondering if anyone has done this and what they purchased. I have seen the LED bulb inserted into a bored-out headlight, but...

Gas/oil mix ratio for 1982 Honda MB5
Hello Folks, when I bought my MB5, the previous owner had taken off the oil reservoir and capped it; then he began running pre-mixed gas/oil in the machine. I don't know if I got my ratios off or if my gas can was dirty and I crapped up the carburetor, but my last tank of gas/oil isn't working very ...

Carburetor needed for 1982 Honda MB5
Folks, It was pretty easy to find a new carb for my 85 Gyro. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a new carburetor for my 1982 Honda MB? I gummed mine up with some bad gas (scratch that-- I used an old gas can that must have had some crud in it). Normally, I'd take it apart and clean every...
