Re: 1986 spree crankcase gasket thickness
I even wrote fel-pro and asked for advice. They sent me this link http://www.fme-cat.com/digipubZ/Fel-Pro-Master-Gasket-Catalog-900-16/#?page=1298 I told them I was specifically looking for material for my crankcase gasket (the ones that shipped with the 2 kits I bought didn't fit right and one was ...

Re: 1986 spree crankcase gasket thickness
Thanks for the links but didn't answer my question. Did the .030 gasket material work? I've been asking about the mini melody gaskets and no one can definitively tell me they will work. The first link is the gaskets I bought and a few of them are different from the 85. Plus one was already torn on d...

Re: 1986 spree crankcase gasket thickness
Did this work for you? I haven't been able to find gaskets on eBay. Thanks so much!

Re: Idling high, fouling spark plugs
It seems the cork gasket was just a Hail Mary with materials he had around the shop but clearly we figured out it doesn't work. I've been unsuccessful in trying to find replacement gaskets in the last few weeks. If anyone knows where to find any or what material can be used to make them, I would ser...

Re: Idling high, fouling spark plugs
I want to say he made it from cork gasket material since he works on motorcycles. I don't know why my first instinct was a cork sheet but that doesn't seem right. I can't get him to actually write on here himself which is infuriating. This seems like it should have been figured out a long time ago. ...

Re: Idling high, fouling spark plugs
Did everything I thought I needed to do. Rebuilt the top end. Bought new gaskets. She started up and sounded great but had a pretty awesome oil leak... leading me to believe maybe the gaskets weren't right. I don't really know. My boyfriend tried to build one out of cork but then there was no compre...

Re: Idling high, fouling spark plugs
It looks like I can get a used one for $32 with no gaskets or a new one for around $51 with gaskets. I'm guessing I should go with the new one. Do you know of a reputable seller I should go through? All this is completely foreign to me. It looks like I'll be buying an alien jigsaw puzzle.

Re: Idling high, fouling spark plugs
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get her to start at all lately. So it isn't after warm up. I finally got to do a compression test and it wasn't good. Something like 45 psi. I realize how bad this is and now I feel really lost. I guess this means I have to rebuild my engine? I hate to sound lik...

Re: Idling high, fouling spark plugs
I'm sorry! Yes. An 85 spree. As for my weight, my scooter hasn't been working!! I've lost 2 pant sizes having to hoof my happy * to get groceries hahaha the compression test is what I've been really wondering about but the only person I know with the tools for that is in Vancouver. Ugh. Plus it is m...

Idling high, fouling spark plugs
I keep on tinkering with my little beast but continue to have the same problems. The only way I can keep her running is to have her idle what seems to be really high. She runs for a few days to a week and then dies. Usually after she is already warmed up. Then she is impossible to start again. I kee...

85 spree rear brake problem
85 honda spree. When I hold the left brake, it's like the scoot doesn't recognize it and she won't start. Hold the right brake and everything starts. I still have brakes when I ride. A little sloppy so I was going to change them but I haven't been able to find much info on that. I have literally zer...

Re: 85 Spree idles high and rattles
Got my belt off for a good look and it is definitely worn down. Enough that I'm going to replace it while I'm fixing everything else. My belt number says 23100-GK8-0030. I saw something about a different number being used now. I want to say GK8-870 or 8700. After calling around a bit it seems the mo...

Re: 85 Spree idles high and rattles
Pulled my cover off and besides a nice coating of belt dust there doesn't seem to be anything loose. The belt seems OK tension wise but I'm not sure what they are supposed to look like as far as width is concerned. Saw a friend pull a belt that looked perfect until we compared it to a new one and he...

85 spree plastics
I just stumbled onto my 85 spree with everything, including all plastics, completely intact. Petcock cover and all. So I'm curious. Are the plastics hard to come by? I feel like I read something about people hating when people decorated the plastics cause they were rare. If this is the case, has any...
