1987 SE50 P Upgrades and Carb Questions

So I'm in the process of going through my 1987 SE50 P and doing some maintainence and upgrades while I've got things apart. I've already added a Scooter Swap Shop Slick Willy pipe (which fit perfectly BTW) and was in the process of cleaning out the carburetor. I had already discovered that the air f...

Re: Disassembling an AF16 What do I need?

Thanks again! I've messed with engines for years so it all makes sense to me. I just wanted to be sure I'm doing it the right way due to the fact that I'm trading the case to someone and I don't want to damage anything.

Re: Disassembling an AF16 What do I need?

Thanks for looking those up for me! So if I'm understanding this correctly, the flywheel has to come off with a puller, then the variator can be removed with socket. The case comes apart with a socket set. I'm not going to remove bearings from the crank or anything like that right now. I'm sending t...

Re: Disassembling an AF16 What do I need?

Thanks for the responses. I basically need to strip everything out of the cases. Would the puller you mentioned take care of everything or do I need more specialized tools?

Disassembling an AF16 What do I need?

I'm in the process of disassembling and AF16 for it cases. I haven't messed with these particular engines much. What special tools do I need (if any) and what's the best way / tool to remove parts that are bolted or pressed onto the crank? Actual tool names and part numbers that I can look up and pu...

Neat story and good looking Spree. If you ever decide you're done I'll take those wheels and that seat off your hands.

I would be down for a drop in Spree kit if you decide to do them again.

Re: 1987 Elite 50 S (SE50) freshen up

Looks almost exactly like my SE50. I'm currently doing a refresh on mine as well. While you've got it all apart, you might want to consider cleaning and repacking your headset bearings if you haven't already. My top ones were full of greasy crud and the bottoms were completely dry.

Re: Safety First!

After reading through all the responses, I bought a medium weight nylon padded riding jacket. In black and hi-viz orange (of course.) it matches either my open face / shielded hi viz orange helmet or my full face full on black motorcycle helmet. When it gets to freezing around here (almost never) I'...

Lots of good responses! Any recommendations on lightweight breathable jackets as it gets stupid hot here in Florida. Gloves as well.

Re: Safety First!

Currently, I do jeans, a T-shirt and recently bought one of those crazy hi viz orange helmets. Kinda goofy but the idea is to be seen. Think I might glue some deely boppers to it lol.
