Re: ‘86 nq50 was running a week ago but now won’t start
So, I can see that the bolt used to fix the carb spacer is different then a normal Spree bolt. That looks somewhat suspect even though it might be fine. Are the O-rings for the spacer in place? Might have an air leak. The bolt on the left looks almost loose (but don't try over tightning it, just ask...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything
So a theory I have here about why so much oil is in there, is perhaps the oil ring was worn out, which will in turn, cause excessive oil to drain into the crank case. So the previous guy might have thought the pump failed, which, again, is just a myth. So instead of replacing a 30 year old $3.95 rub...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything
Oh, one more thing, manually turn the piston rod till it's at about top dead center before draining to increase the chances of getting the most oil out.

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything
You don't need a BBK. And if you grind off the gears, there is no going back and you will have to run premix. Again on a stock piston, you'd want to use 40:1. If grinding off gears seems too extreme, see if that pump is turning and not stuck. Meatball outlined a POSSIBILITY that it is stuck because ...

Re: ‘86 nq50 was running a week ago but now won’t start
  We know, we're just messin with ya!!  But anyways, turn the carb 2 & 1/2 turns out as your starting point. When you say oil was drained out and replaced, did you bleed the line? Very important. When you say "LOOSE CARB HOUSING FIXED" this kind of catches my atten...

OK, one thing you'll wanna watch out for there, is typically the pistons rings in these online kits are junk. You'll wanna order a set of genuine Honda rings which are still available online or from your local Honda dealer. Part number: 13011-GAB-305

Re: I'm fairly certain my spree starter is bad, just want to make sure.
Just remember though, when you rebuild, make sure you clean all the old gunk out of the starter with a wire brush (and spray in brake cleaner/degreaser, etc) and re-grease. Don't forget to very lightly grease the bendix pinion as well. 30+ year old starters can collect rust inside and old grease dri...

Re: I'm fairly certain my spree starter is bad, just want to make sure.
Yes, LT80 rebuild kit will work fine, not all the parts, but the key ones you need will work. My 87's starter was rebuilt with an LT80 kit. The guy on eBay who is selling starters and adds a core charge has a nice little swindle going. All he's doing is rebuilding them with LT80 kits, selling them f...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything
Yes, re-install the pump, but change out the O-ring which is probably deteriorated from age. Part number 91301-147-023
. Piston should be fine to use again.

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything
The pump doesn't fail, that's a myth, but the old rubber ring could use replaced. If you are going to run premix , use 40:1 in a standard bore and 32:1 on a BBK. 32:1 on a stock piston will saturate out because of the intake, yes the intake.

Re: ‘86 nq50 was running a week ago but now won’t start
What’s an impeller? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeller An impeller is a rotating component of a centrifugal pump which transfers energy from the motor that drives the pump to the fluid being pumped by accelerating the fluid outwards from the center of rotation. So like, maybe it's the oil pump?...

Re: Issues with 86 Spree
15mm should do just fine on that stock bore, you can use a 76 max jet without too much trouble.

Re: Issues with 86 Spree
You'll want to get a kit to try different sizes to see what works for you at a guess maybe a 76. Brandon/Scooter Swap Shop, sells the main Jets you need they are the same ones as the polini CP carb uses. Pilot I believe is standard GY6

Re: Issues with 86 Spree
Odd air filter, I'm surprised it fits in that tiny space, but it should be just fine. But yes, getting that jetting down will absolutely pay off. Without BBK and gears, you should be able to achieve close to 40 (probably about 37) with the right tuning and body weight. Marc/Taz/chopchop123 gets thos...
